You're gonna jump ship?
And just beware, the autofocus on the mk II is horrible.

I would highly recommend a D700 instead. unless you're planning on video of course, then the 5D is the way to go.

I have been looking for a D700 for months but the ones I have found have an enormous amount of actuations :( I rented the d600 and didn't like it at all and the d800 is a bit overkill for me. I also like the fact that the 5d mk ii is brand new with warranty. Also all the local photographers shoot canon so I have used quite a few mk ii's and didn't see any issues with the autofocus.

My D7000 was more accurate and faster when it had a broken autofocus engine. It is a known thing with the MKII. Other than that it's still a kickass camera, and unless you shoot a lot of street shooting or sports you won't really notice it. Gonna get some L glass for it or still do third party?

Definitely L glass, I will get the 16-35 for wide and most likely the 50 1.2 for portraits to start off with.

Also I don't do too much sports or street shooting so I guess that's why I didn't notice it. Other than portraits my camera is usually on my tripod haha

I'd get an 85mm f/1.4 instead, the 50mm F/1.2 is incredibly soft and expensive. And remember you got a full frame camera, so 50's aren't 75's anymore. 50mm is great for everything, but 85's are better for portraits.
And seems like the 5D MK.II is right up your alley. ;)

I'm gonna get a D800. Selling my D3 and D7000 to get one of those.
Never use the 9fps on my D3 so why not get a D800. :D

DAMN! The D800 looks and feels solid, I used it a bit at the Nikon booth, and its very nice.

Used it around the shop with an 24-120 f/4 VR. One can say I fell in love.

Unfortunately Canon only makes an 85 1.2 and an 85 1.8, They dont make a 1.4 :(

Then get a Zeiss lens. ;)
They're insane for portraits. Great contrasts and insane build quality, but no auto focus.
I'm gonna get an 85 f/1.4 from Zeiss one day.

After 8 straight days of cloudy, rainy, foggy and gloomy days, I was sure glad to see some clear skies last night. Spent a few hours under the stars and here is the shot I came back with :)

LOL, I know, most people think I am older because I speak (fine, type) quiet well and am mature. How old did you think I was?
