When I started I wore jersey with a T-shirt under it (still do) and a $3 bandanna I got at a craft store.

You'll be fine with just a T-Shirt under whatever you're wearing.

Jerseys are really thin material, usually with a fair bit of mesh.
Still convinced that HK=Hello Kitty.

I just wear a t-shirt under my jersey. Other than elbo/shoulder pads, most jerseys are just a VERY thin pieces of cloth with some mesh venting.

As for shoes, I'm currently wearing a pair of JT cleats. They were $15 about two years ago, and are still working fine. The best thing about them is that if they get all covered in mud and paint, I don't have to clean them up before wearing them to work on Monday.

t-shirt, shorts then PE jersey, pants
A paintball gun doesn't make the player. It's the person behind the gun that is responsible for taking care of, cleaning, and pulling the trigger of it that makes every shot count.
