Drink plenty of water several days before the event to be hydrated at the beginning of the event.
This is very important, People also need to have salt too. it will keep water in you, the Marines in WW2 used salt pills When fighting on the Islands.
Also, For cardio, interval training will do wonders for this and also, weights will help. the strong the body is the easier that it can do activities so you can go longer.
