Here it is!!

From Tiberius Arms -

Paintball's First Sniper Round

Utilizing a combination of aerodynamic shape and fin stabilization technology, First Strike Projectiles maintain their velocity longer. The result is 50% greater range and unrivaled accuracy. Finally players have an alternative to accuracy by volume or backspin gimmicks that simply change trajectory. Become one of the first true paintball snipers with first strike. First Strike conversion kits are available for all Tiberius Arms markers.

Test conducted by firing 5 paintballs and 5 First Strike Projectiles from the same marker at the same velocity (300fps) from a bench mount at a 45 degree angle

Max Range of a standard paintball - 337 feet
Max Range of First Strike Projectile: 510 feet

Test conducted by firing 15 standard paintballs and 15 first strike projectiles from the same marker, on a bench mount, at the same velocity (290fps) on an indoor range at 100 feet.

That's really cool but I believe something like this has been done before. I wonder what makes them think it'll catch on now. I'm curious what it looks like and how it is going to be loaded.

in one of simon's videos on youtube, he showed off a law enforcement launcher that ran off a beefed up automag valve. It fired projectiles just like the ones described, and if you watch the video, you can see pics of them. I think this is the right link.

they show up around 5:50 into the vid

yup, that's the FN303 less than lethal launcher. Tom Kaye had a hand in it's design - they're deployed all over the world and US in law enforcement and military crowd control applications.

They shoot from a drum - sorta like a tommy gun.

I could see this type of thing starting to take traction with the mil-sim crowd. Sure, your paint might cost $3 a round - but you could finally have a "real" sniper in paintball.

The tough part is going to be regulating and creating rules about which (if any) of these alternative rounds are able to be used in paintball games.

Pfffft. This has been a long time coming. Everybody knows that a new paintball projectile was needed on the market, but all everyone wants to do is hate on new ideas and say "It can't be done!" Well, I hope this product shuts their mouths, and they'll realize that every idea seems far-fetched until someone makes it work.

If the price is right I might be intrested. It would be fun to pick people off from a distance in a scenario.

I can imagine paint being expencive though...

Guys, I don't think this paint is going to fit into regular hoppers and regular markers. The Tiberius Arms markers have to be retrofitted to use this stuff, so that tells me that the shape is different enough from the spherical paintball to make a difference. You're not going to want to shoot off a hopper-full of these while trying to slide into the snake.

This will be great. Paintball finally takes a step forward into better physics. Tom Kaye even predicted this. I hope this will take place of paintballs. Think about it, a minie paintball.

That sucker reminds me of a miniball. Looks like paintball ammo is finally progressing, IF this catches on. That's a big IF though.
