A Sad Day

I have learned that Angel Sports is ceasing operations. I don’t know all the details, not sure it really matters. They will make announcements concerning this shortly. I have been assured by the UK office that parts will be available to service the markers. The details of this arrangement should become clear in the near future, and should be announced by the UK office this week. For the near future, both myself and Bob at Fix My Angel (www.fixmyangel.com) have parts in stock in the US for your customers.

I have some items in stock personally, and will be willing to honor your dealer pricing (or give you an even better deal) where I can on those items. Anyone looking for accessories, or especially clothing, please contact me asap and we’ll see what we can work out. Once these items are gone, I am not sure I can get more.

Because I feel an obligation to the players, teams, and dealers I have worked with, I will continue to monitor and use the jay@angelsports.com email. I have been assured that it will work for some time. If that turns out not to be the case, I have set up a personal email account, pballjay@gmail.com that I will begin to monitor if the angelsports.com email fails or ceases to exist. I will continue to maintain and monitor my mobile number, XXXXXXXX so that any of you that wish to reach me will be able to do so.

I show up at a field that I never been to before for some rec-play wearing cargo pants with a t-shirt....carrying a old mech Spyder and two pringle potato chip cans for pods shoved in the pants pockets. The stares are priceless and after the first game or so you get to see the grins from the ref and players who know....priceless.

The ultimate truth in paintball is that the interaction between the gun and the player is far and away the largest factor in accuracy, consistency, and reliability.

I had at least three conversations at the field this weekend that revolved around the theme of "I can't believe that Angel is still around" - I guess this is the answer to that conversation.

Bad News. Its a shame when a well respected and beloved company like that disappears. One day they may reamerge better than before but only time will tell. Good luck WDP.

While I never owned a WDP product, this does make a little sad.

At LL3/4 (I can't remember which for certain), While I was loading my gear into the hotel, I was told by a player someone who was working/assisting at the Angel booth, that Angel was going to be bought by Tiberius. At the time, I reflected on the fact that Angel debuted their AR:K with a Tiberius stock, and I still found it a little unlikely. But, now I can't help but think if this is/was somehow related.

I'd be interested to find out what happened to Angel's Intellectual Property (i.e. Patents).

EDIT: for clarity

So I wonder who will take the angel platform... Wouldn't them closing end the patents and all that legal stuff?

Sad day indeed for paintball, Angels were the marker to have when I first started, it was weird watching them slowly become less and less popular. Last year I thought they were making a decent comeback too. Worst news in paintball since the downfall of AKA...

no. Until we find out what happens with the stuff the company owns (including the IP stuff) we won't know where it'll end up.
