I suffer from concussions all the time, and feel the effects of them everyday. But I still love to play, so I do what I can to protect myself.
Yeah, I'm still afraid of getting hit in the head because I have no way of knowing how bad the symptoms will be. I've been at both ends of the spectrum. It's a risk I'm willing to take until I physically can't do it anymore.
It's your body, no one else knows a damn thing about it so it's up to you to protect it as much as you see fit. People who say, "I just got my bell rung", still get symptoms of concussions.
Get a
hundredth monkey hat. Bounces all day. There is another product out there, D3O technology, it's used in snowboarding and moto-X. Supposedly works wonders.
How long will this shit be ignored? Yeah, concussions have been all over the news lately, I'm actually sick of it myself, but I just want to say that it does happen in this sport. Some people will laugh it off, make jokes about it. That's fine, maybe it doesn't happen to them. But if a player does start to feel the effects of it, other people need to know what to do to help him.
