Hello Everyone,
I thought i would take the time to show you what I did with an old gun of mine since i started to get interested in pump play.
This is my 09 electra, with a lapco barrel and an apex tip that has been modded by me using some aluminum, plastic, a lathe, and a mill.
If there are any questions, I would be happy to answer them Posted Image

What did you do to the valve to stop the blowback air? Looks nice and clean, like it was professionally done.

He probably removed the O ring from the striker and used a full cylinder poppit instead of the one with the groove cut in it for airflow.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Oh yeah. Good job

I removed the O-ring on the striker and milled a slot in the top of the striker so that the bolt would be able to slide forward, but still left the metal behind where the pin would usually sit so that the pin could be used to push it back, ill see if i can get a pick up to help clarify

Lol, I suppose I should take the link to the BST page for my spyder out of my signature.... considering what I did to it...

The one thing i still have not done is modify the valve, I am hoping to get my hands on a nicer autockocker valve and see if that works, otherwise i will most likely just make my own pin. What do you guys think about putting an O-ring on the valve pin so that no air can go into the hammer chamber? I have been thinking about it and it would probably just make the valve sticky but it might be worth a try.

With the force of the striker hitting the valve, I don't think you'd have any issues with an o-ring in the valve.

I was more afraid of it sticking open actually, or at least making the gun less efficient somehow. But you would think it would be more efficient by quite a bit if it worked, thats a lot of air being saved

Right, forgot about that. I don't think it would stick open as long as you made sure to stick a drop or two of oil in the ASA now and then. I would imagine quite a bit of air is wasted trying to reset the striker, but I don't know how much difference there would be between using a new straight valve stem, or one with an o-ring on it.

Very very nice and well done!

Noob question: What does slotting the striker have to do with a spump?

I show up at a field that I never been to before for some rec-play wearing cargo pants with a t-shirt....carrying a old mech Spyder and two pringle potato chip cans for pods shoved in the pants pockets. The stares are priceless and after the first game or so you get to see the grins from the ref and players who know....priceless.

eh, I never really cared for the oil in the ASA approach, if it needed oil I would take it apart and oil it. The problem right now is that the valve does not have enough surface for an o-ring to travel accross as the pin moves, so it would have to be an internal o-ring.....yipee

the slot allows the bolt to return forward and leave the hammer behind in the cocked position until you pull the trigger, then the hammer will go forward and hit the valve. after that you would recock the hammer and load another ball by pumping it. Like how an autockocker works, such as my picture, which you can see a better version of here

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Now I get it.... Thanks a ton!

What did you use to slot the strike and mill the slot in the Electra? It is VERY clean.

Yup, but it would be pretty easy to get a mech single trigger frame I'd imagine, thats really not high on the priorty list right now though
