Figured it's just easier to link that than actually insert images while posting from my phone :P. All taken with a D3000 and its kit lens, although I'm looking in to a 35mm 1.8 and a 70-300 (VRII preferably) as soon as I have some money to throw around.

haha I really do enjoy doing light painting or what ever they call it. But usually I only do it in pictures that are just of light painting but I thought it made the marker picture stand out :)

Done diddly done.

The time differences between America and Norway is making me disoriented in this thread. Posted Image

The picture is composed nice, but it is a little on the grainy side.

Have you over sharpened it?
Or is it just that the D3000 isn't as ISO tolerant as a D3100
I remember being able to put it up to 800 before it became a problem.

The D3000 is pretty good up to 800, but it is pretty noticeable if you try to go higher. At 800 it does pretty well though IMO.

Considering the picture above has ISO 400 it doesn't look like it.
This is of course unless he added any grain or extensive sharpening in Photoshop.
That is around the same amount of grain I get at ISO 2200 with my D7000. Maybe even more.

I dunno, just speaking from experience with my own D3000...

EDIT: also I don't know about that particular picture as I'm currently at my phone and can't really judge the image anyway. Just saying that at ISO 400, the D3000 shouldn't really be giving any significant graininess.

Are you adding sharpness to it?
If so, what radius is the sharpening at?
