how much do you want to spend?

sub $50 - Trracer, Maverick, SL68II
$100-ish - Trillogy pump (see Mike's video), Lightning pump, Superbolt pump, PGP, used Sheridan guns
$150-200 - used cocker with pump kit, Azodin Kaos Pump, phantom, Tippmann SL68II (new release of an old workhorse)
$200-350 - fancy or rare cocker bodies, or cockers that have been modified (stock class etc.), Phantoms with options, Sanchez SM-1
$350 and up - Lapco Grey Ghost, CCM, Palmers, Carter, Sterling STP

I'll gladly take suggestions to make my list more complete. This isn't a thread about what pumps are better - just a list of things to look at in different price ranges.

Please post replies - I'll incorporate the good suggestions then delete the post to keep this clean.

Thanks to those that have helped.

It's been suggested - I didn't for two reasons:

1. They're currently only availbe via the first run - you had to get on the list.
2. They're basically dressed up phantoms. They're built around phantom guts. I'm not saying they're not cool, but like the Redux, you're buying a kit to attach to another gun to make them.

Tippmann
used SL-68 I about $50 (rare on eBay or B/S/T)
used SL-68 II (1991-2003) about $75 (0-3 per week on eBay or B/S/T)

NEW SL-68 II (2009+) MSRP $169 (released sometime after October 2009)

yeah, just saw that - I think that the $170 is a bit high - but it's great to see another company jumping into the pump game (again in this case)

Would playing with a pump hone your skills in speedball at all?

massively - if you would like the same effect, play with a 50 round hopper or just a 10 round tubee sticking out of your normal gun.

But if pump appeals to you, by all means, go for it - but if you are looking to use it to become better in league play, just put your gun at a handicap - maybe break your fingers for limited fire rate

Here's two threads debating between the two, you can choose upon reading all the information here

but my quick synopsis would be, if your sure you love stock class and have experience with it or KNOW you'll love it, I'd go Grey ghost... if not I'd say phantom for a few reasons

Cheaper, easier to convert to different set-ups... uhh other then that yeah there's tons of info below this in the links

this thread gets my vote. A good idea would be to make an ultra thread on pumps including stock class vs. open class and what each is. Also maybe show some autococker bodies and explain what midget/mini/midblock/halfblock all are. You could even show what aftermarket cocker bodies there are and help explain why each one is so expensive or rare. IMO there are too many threads about just getting into pump and not enough threads about how awesome it is to play pump. Just my 2 cents.

This is one of several stickies on the forum... there is an Open class vs stock class thread also in one of the stickies
http://www.techpb.co...showtopic=68620

there are a few other things that are also in this pinned thread, But there isn't one about auto-cocker bodies sizes, types and costs.... I think if you want to take the time out and do it and also explain what pump kits can go with what bodies etc then you'd be more then deserving of a sticky

for 499.99 base you can look into a Avrotech AV Falcon. You can purchuse them off Apoc on MCB, as long as you give him your stuff he's still taking orders. He's got like 10 bodys ready to go.

Tippman C3 ;) Unfortunately, they're not produced anymore, but definately in a class all it's own. I saw one recently on Craigslist for $60.

Speaking of "guns" in a class all their own, what about the Airow gun? I'm not sure if you would consider drawing a bow string as the equivilant to pump though, but it's definately not semi-auto.
Techpb Mike doesn't use Trojan Magnum extra large condoms 'cause he doesn't believe in underboring.

Techpb Mike doesn't hide behind cover. Instead, he shoots down incoming paintballs.
