Just a quick question, figured I could use some input from some experienced players.

I just recently got into paintball and I have fallen in love with it instantly. my DP G4 has been my starter marker and has been a very good marker thus far. However I am already wanting a mid-higher range marker. I have been reviewing mid end markers and have had my sight set on the Etek 3 however just recently my buddy has offered to sell me his Ego 8 that he has only put about 6-7 cases through. He just doesn't have much time for paintball and offered to sell it to me for 400 bucks. So my question is this, should i jump on this offer for the Ego 8 for 400 over the new 600 dollar Etek? also is the QEV problem with the Ego 8 something that is cheap and easy to fix when they tear and worth the minor inconvenience every 20-30 cases? any input or opinions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

EGO 8 would be far superior an ego 8 is a slightly older supermarker while the etek 3 is basically a cheap old ego 6 that isnt even on the same level as an ego 8

Etek 3. No QEVs to worry about. And most likely to be less worn.

An Etek 3 + Emortal board is basically an updated Ego 8.

Etek 1/2 are just refined cheaper versions of Ego 5/6s

Etek 3 is like some freaky dumbed down Ego 8/SL8R combo.

I don't understand why people worry about qevs.

In the worse case if they go bad retap it for cocker qevs and you're good to go.

Qevs means faster but not as smooth

yes they do, but at the same time if they tear when your playing or in a tournament setting and you dont have any on you, your screwed. i'd rather have one less thing to worry about

qevs are a minor issue. You can buy a pack of 10 for dirt cheap. Its not like they are $20 each and your gun doesnt work without them.

I don't know if this is right but I'm guessing the Etek 3 will be easier to find parts for since it's newer. Personally I would get the Etek 3 used

The Etek 3 has more in common with the Ego 9 than any other Ego. It is nothing like the Ego 6.

I, personally, would go with an Ego 8 that was in good shape. Especially if it came with the case and all the other stuff. The QEV's CAN be a problem, but they rarely rip, and the newer diaphragms are built much better, and dont rip nearly as easily. The Ego 8 is not as loud as the Etek 3, although they shoot about the same. The operating pressure of the Ego 8 is lower, though. However, the Etek 3 has a more modern HPR, LPR, and noid mounting system. They use the same grips, if I remember correctly, and the Etek 3 has basically a lightly milled Shaft 3. Other than that, the Ego 8 also had a Zick 1, just like the Etek, and the Ego 8 had either a Cure 1, or a Cure 2. Might as well be the same bolt, though, because the Cure 2 did very little. The Ego 8 will have a screen, though, which is always nice for the few times you plan to program it.

I choose ego as well but also consider the future when or if you resell. Even though the ego is older. It would be easier to resell.and would hold value a bit more especially from what you said about the ego being barely used.

The Etek 3 is not more efficient than the Ego 8.

Etek 3 cause it's newer so it's less likely to break down but ego8s are nice too

Ego 8. This is a no brainer. The ego 8 has a oled board versus led. Also the etek 3 is a cheaper version of the ego 8. It's like get the real deal not a bootleg, and don't worry about qevs
Just because you own a high end marker and gear dosen't mean your good...

The Egos have LCD screens, not OLED. Also, the Etek 3 is not a cheaper version of the Ego 8. Its design has more in common with the Ego 9 than the Ego 8.

Ego 8. I wasn't too impressed with my Etek 3, although the Ego wouldn't probably impress me that much either but at least it won't blow out your eardrums every time you use it.
