Ego 8 vs Etek3

I just recently got into paintball and I have fallen in love with it instantly. my DP G4 has been my starter marker and has been a very good marker thus far. However I am already wanting a mid-higher range marker. I have been reviewing mid end markers and have had my sight set on the Etek 3 however just recently my buddy has offered to sell me his Ego 8 that he has only put about 6-7 cases through. He just doesn't have much time for paintball and offered to sell it to me for 400 bucks. So my question is this, should i jump on this offer for the Ego 8 for 400 over the new 600 dollar Etek? also is the QEV problem with the Ego 8 something that is cheap and easy to fix when they tear and worth the minor inconvenience every 20-30 cases? any input or opinions would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Etek 1/2 are just refined cheaper versions of Ego 5/6s
Etek 3 is like some freaky dumbed down Ego 8/SL8R combo.

In the worse case if they go bad retap it for cocker qevs and you're good to go.
Qevs means faster but not as smooth

yes they do, but at the same time if they tear when your playing or in a tournament setting and you dont have any on you, your screwed. i'd rather have one less thing to worry about

The Etek 3 has more in common with the Ego 9 than any other Ego. It is nothing like the Ego 6.
I, personally, would go with an Ego 8 that was in good shape. Especially if it came with the case and all the other stuff. The QEV's CAN be a problem, but they rarely rip, and the newer diaphragms are built much better, and dont rip nearly as easily. The Ego 8 is not as loud as the Etek 3, although they shoot about the same. The operating pressure of the Ego 8 is lower, though. However, the Etek 3 has a more modern HPR, LPR, and noid mounting system. They use the same grips, if I remember correctly, and the Etek 3 has basically a lightly milled Shaft 3. Other than that, the Ego 8 also had a Zick 1, just like the Etek, and the Ego 8 had either a Cure 1, or a Cure 2. Might as well be the same bolt, though, because the Cure 2 did very little. The Ego 8 will have a screen, though, which is always nice for the few times you plan to program it.
