While it's possible, it's a lot harder for people like us to get parts for them. OEM's usually have stronger connections with parts manufacturers.
EDIT: But at most of those price points, most of them don't even come with 8GB of RAM Standard. Seems a little messed up. So I'm thinking I'll just wait for the Vizio laptops to come out. (Matte 1080P displays, 1TB HDD's, and 8GB of RAM standard)

What's your budget? There's like 7 models.

Build or Buy: Not sure. A computer would probably be a good start. I'd rather not put something together wrong, I hate ?Ikea instructions. they piss me off.
Budget: around 500$ - 700$, entry level

What you going to be doing on it: Pokemon. Probably be playing pokemon, Red, Blue, Gold, Silver, Crystal, ruby, black, white, yellow, fire red, Water blue, you know.. sometimes I might play pokemon snap.. or Pokemon stadiums. OH And I'll be watching alot of porn. like up to 12 hours a day of porn, I like hearing porn while playing Pokemon. Gives it that extra OHHHHHHH when I Use Hydro Pump with my Garadoes + mystic Water + Rain Combo.

What your looking for: Well I like Water Pokemon becuase they make use of the 4 HM's that are water related, so Usually I have 3 out of my 10 rotation pokemon that are either primary or secondary water based, I also like Ice types for Dragon pokemon at the Elite 4 level, I always have a Fighting type with the Black Belt on so I can make good use of the Ever So Broken attack of Recoil. (Hitmonlee with Recoil can 1 hit every pokemon in the game when you EV train his attack all the way up.)

Desktop or Laptop: See this is where it gets hard, I HATE trying to play pokemon while watching porn on my lab, where does my hand go? under the laptop? Then I'm stuck in a weird position, and then if I let go of lap top it Fly's of and smashes onto the ground. and I lose my warrenty due to Water damage. But with the Desk top I always end up with Serious Traumatic Bruising on the top of my hand.

And please, make it so it makes sense. Yeah we all have some grammar/typing fail moments, or are typing things that are hard to phrase, but for the love of god, don't put gibberish that makes no sense.

Help me
:(

The Vizio's are 1050, so somewhere in there. I'd very much rather have ATI graphics though because I'll be throwing Ubuntu on it.

As of now, the only ATI option is the 7970M, which is a flagship GPU and came out last month, and everything else is Nvidia, unfortunately.

Those Vizio laptops are extremely nice though.

I think I'll hold out for one of the Vizio's, they do more than enough for what I want to replace my current laptop for.
