Better option would have been lotion, pics, and Assassins Creed all in the same night..

I'm going to trade in dishonored for AC3...

Probably going to get screwed over by Best Buy or EB Games but whatever...

So quick first impressions time.

I'm not a fan of the "wilderness" missions, or anything to do with freerunning through the trees. You have absolutely no idea where you're going, it's nearly impossible to find a spot to get up in the trees, and you just have no general sense of direction other than an arrow on your mini map. All it does is slow the game down. Not only that, but you have almost zero visibility in the forest. You're just basically running in the direction of the beacon on your mini map hoping you're not going to run into any unnecessary impediments like cliffs, gorges, or rivers that the game arbitrarily decides you can't get past.

I like the fluidity of the urban freerunning though, but it feels a little too sensitive. I'll be running down an alley, accidentally twitch the stick near a wall, and he'll automatically start climbing halfway up the wall before he responds to input and I can drop down again. It takes forever for him to hang from a ledge with me mashing the B button before the game realizes I don't actually want to climb that fucking building just now. It's gotten me killed more times that I'd like to remember.

All in all, there's just way too much filler and time wasting going on. At least you can fast travel to almost every main mission you have, which is a bonus, but rather than having an expansive feeling world, everything just feels tedious and pointless. I dunno, I think they took a step backwards with their world building from previous titles.

Oh and fuck the horseback riding. The horses do not want to go where you want them to go, get hung up on every little thing, and can't cross a fucking stream unless you're near a designated choke point on the banks.

Havent played through any of the Assassins Creeds yet, should I buy this one or go back and play the older ones first? If so which ones should I go back and play? I know everyone says Assassins Creeds II is considered the best?

Yeah, I'd say AC II has been my favorite. If you don't care about the story so much, just skip AC I

Definetly at least play the first one. The second is alright but the first is awesome.

You got that mixed up. Assassin's Creed I is more like a big grindfest, and it begins to feel stagnant fairly quickly. By Assassin's Creed II, they made the game transition more fluidly, and kept the pace going the whole time. I've even heard it referred to as the "Assassin's Creed II effect" when describing a sequel that fixed the problems of the first one.

Don't just drag yourself through AC 1 so you can play the others, The stories of Altair and Ezio aren't completely connected and only 2 characters really carry over between AC and AC2, so knowing who everyone is and what is happening isn't THAT important ...

The first one is still important to the story in my opinion.

I think the first one is great. Im glad I played the first 2. I would probably feel lost (and also missing some background info) if I just jumped into AC3. The first one is kinda a grindfest but it is truly original so I still loved it when I first played it. I would still rate the AC1 story over like any COD after cod5
