Or a used Empire Trracer... Not really. A pump markers is pretty discouraging for new players.
Does your friend have any other gear? If he's on such a limited budget for the marker (and I'm not saying he can't get a usable marker for that because he can,) a hobby/sport as expensive as paintball might not be the choice for him.
