And looking at it, JI is closer to LA than SD. When I went to hemet which is on a parallel to it, it took about two hours, sorry that is too long for me.

This may work, but i think we should postpone this into the future, maybe winter break or something so all of us have time to plan things out more accordingly.

Winter break might work, depending on when it is. If its' early December that's a no go. My skinny ass will be out in the field from just before Thanksgiving (woo Turkey MRE for Thanksgiving) to just before Christmas.
