It's not heavy at all. You can't even tell anything is on your head and doesnt effect performance or profile at all.

if you have it on the side it does

I'm sure you've been told how durable the GoPro is already, but from experience I'll share some experience I have had with the camera from motocross. When we wear it on our helmets, we're constantly getting roosted by rocks and dirt, and I've never had to buy a new housing for the camera. So as far as getting hit by paintballs, you shouldn't have to worry about the camera getting ruined. Just keep the housing lenses clean and everything should be perfect! :)

Our team photographer sometimes gives us his R7 camera whenever he wants some in game POV footage, and sometimes the gopro, and I've had both shot before and nothing went wrong at all.

um yea while nokia's are godlike, 40mm grenades tend to make them less of a phone and more of a dustpile.

Hero 3 works fantastic, its annoying with the head strap if you want to wear a beanie or headwrap. I normally just barrel mount it with the handlebar mount, right up on the hopper. Its quite awkward for a pump tho.

I'm not to sure where people tend to mount there GoPro's but I've seen numerous videos of people who mounted them behind their hopper's and all you see the whole video is a close up of a hopper. I'm surprised nobody ever uses the chest mount or even the head strap.

I don't see why more people don't use the Contour ROAM. It shoots great footage, it's not a fisheye (I hate fisheye on action cameras) it's just as durable as a GoPro but with a smaller profile.

That's probably a smarter move for paintball. Better video from a distance, and slimmer.

ok, so yes the GoPro will be just fine taking a hit, mine has taken many! and with mounting it...pick up the handlebar/seatpost mount and put it on your barrel. If you done like it that way, put the handlebar mount around the feedneck and exten the camera out in front of your loader..hope this helps!
