This is a thread to help all you aspiring tourney players, have a better understanding of the tourney aspect of paintball.

Now before i talk about tourneys you need to know a few things.

-the rules of paintball.-you need to know this because at a tourney you are required to practice all safety rules.

-Paintball terms- this way you know what the other guys are talking about.

When you are ready to play in a tourney?

The answer to this is when ever you think that you are ready. Go out there and give it your best shot, if you don't win or even place just think off all the experience that you gained by just playing in the tournament. Just remember paintball is about fun, so as long as you are having fun then you did a great job.

Why play a tournament.

- For fun

- So you can play with the best teams around you

- For the competitive thrill

-And because it is very fun

Things you need to play in a tourney.

- A marker that has the mode that the tourney requires. so say if a tourney is semi only make sure your marker has semi auto.

- All of the other necessary things you need to play with, air tank, hopper etc.

- Money, yes money because tournaments are not cheap.

What you need to do before you play a tourney.

- Get your self a team, unless its a one on one tourney you are going to need fellow balers on your side.

- Find out the rules for the specific tourney you are going to play in and learn them.

- Practice with your team.

- Practice with your team.

The Night Before the tourney

- Clean all your gear

- Lube your marker

- Replace all battery's with new name brand battery's.

- Do not add anything aftermarket parts to your gun, because you don't want to risk adding something to your marker before a tourney in case the part makes your gun act funny.

- Drink plenty of water

- Make a list of all the gear you need to play with. then get all your gear together in one place ( preferably a bag) checking each item off the list as you get it.

- Get a good night sleep.

The morning of

- eat a good breakfast, some thing that will hold you over. But nothing full of grease or fat.

- Drink some more water

- go over your gear list one last time, making sure you have everything you need

- get to the field as early as you can, its better to wait a few hours to start playing then it is rushing to get set up before you play.

Once you get to the field

- find the bathroom, this will help so much later on when time is important and you need to relive your self.

- Get your spot set up, with your gear ready to go

- Chronograph your marker, and make sure it its under the legal limit for the field.

- Make sure your paper work is filled out, so you are ready to go when the tourney begins

- Go over the game plane with your team

- If you can walk the field, find out key bunkers and how you will be able to get to them

- relax and prepare your self for a fun day of paintball

Tournament rate of fire rules.
- psp ramp is after 4 trigger pulls a sec the gun will ramp up to 13.3 bps.
- psp 3 shot is after 4 trigger pulls a sec the gun will then fire 3 balls per trigger pull up to 13.3bps

Tips

- Make sure you Know the field before you play. This will greatly increase your chances of winning

- Watch videos on TV and online to pick up moves from the best players.

- Play every game with 110%

- Always keep your barrel up.

- Practice every chance you get.

- Play better teams and players. You'll never get better playing people worse than you.

- Never be scared to do anything on the field. Courage and confidence will let you make key moves on the field

- Never get discouraged. You will not do so well the first times you play good teams, but keep at it.

- Never yell at a ref. Their job is difficult and provoking them will not help you out. If you have a problem, calmly
explain the situation to them.

- Paintball is competitive, but should always be fun.

How to get Sponsored
sponsorships in paintball are never free. For the most part they don't give out free stuff, just discounts. remember when you are sponsored by a company you are pretty much a employee of that company and they can fire you. so always act professional no matter what.

you are trying to build a brand with your team make it a brand that people look up to, make it a brand that people respect.

Fields sponsorships

- never ask for anything for free
- offer to reff or fill up the bunkers for discounts or field fees etc.
- always leave a good impression with the field owner, reffs, mangers.. because it gets around
- never curse at the field ever
- always help new players when ever you can at the field

Manufacture sponsorships

- never ask for anything for free
- make a website or at least a myspace
- make a team portfolio with info about the team
- always act professional
- make it clear the the company that your team really will help promote the company

Sponsorship links
- really informative guide, Directpaintball.com

- a sight that will help you find sponsors, Sponsorpaintball.com

Useful items.

-Aiming guide

This guide is still in progress, post anything you fell should be added.

Yea, My 1st time paintballing was in Canada.. then, I came back home.. Got myself a Smart Parts Vibe.. My mate got me in touch with a Div 2 team-By that time thought he was joking around.. so wasnt exspecting anything.. then...went to a training with them.. Borrowed a Etek2 to use.. as My Vibe was pathetic.. Awsome day playing 1st time on a Tourny Field. Went to Campaign Cup.. to watch went 2 days.. sorted out my PE-Team Deal Etek 2 ect.. Then,A walkon then Next time.. I had my 1st Tourny. So I had played 3 times 1 tourny practice 2 woods.. before my 1st tourny! Since then been playing 2-3 times a month atleast.. So you can almost go straight into tourny ball. Which I found Seemed to be usefull for me.. And Now love everysecond of Practice and Tourny...

Bottom Line is... YOU WILL LOVE IT.. Your wallet will not but you will!

awsome guide, practicing with your team will deff make you better as a team, honing in on the communication is what can make 5 decent players take down 5 great players granted the 5 great players have little to no communication

One thing i would say first and foremost is this, join a team before starting one. If you join one you can watch the inner workings of a team and see how things a run.

Great guide! Except.. Clean, lube, and disassemble all your gear about a week before so if you mess something up you have time to fix it. I like to just fire a few balls in the back yard to make sure it works the night before.

Wow.. great guide!
My sig was edited / removed because it was not within the rules. Images used in signatures are to be less then Width of 600px, and height of 160px. Only ONE image is aloud in the signature, and it must be 30k or less. Only 5 lines of text are aloud. No text larger then size 2 is aloud in the signature.
My text was too big.

As Rebel said, there are way to many of them to explain all of them. Your best bet would be to google what you think you'd be playing in.

Great list!!!

I'd like to add:

Get the field early, preferrably the day before play to walk the field. Walking the field will give you a huge advantage over teams that don't walk.
And when you do walk, don't just say, okay, you go there, you go here, etc... and DO NOT JUST walk your bunker.

Walk all the bunkers, especially those in front of you. Walk both sides, look for differences and advanteges so if you win the coin-toss you'll know what side to pick.
Don't be afraid to run, slide, etc when walking to get a feel.
Don't be afraid to show up with your pack with some pods in it (seriously, send your front players up, and look from other bunkers to see if thier packs stick out)

Watch other teams play on the field before you do. Look for what works, what doesn't.
Steal other team's breakouts if needed. (We did this one event to a team, we stole thier breakout when we played them on the same field and won)

Also:
Tournament Checklist:::

Field gear:
-Gear Bag (duh)
-Hard Goods (guns, loaders, tanks, barrels, etc)
-Soft Goods (jersey, pants, sliders, t-shirt, SHOES, pads, headgear, MASK, etc)
-Parts and Tools (o-rings, lube, wrenches, spare parts)

-Towels and microfiber cloths
-Squeegees and barrel swabs
-Q-tips
-Extra socks
-Water
-Snacks
-Cash (for temp cards, food, water, goodies)
-Camera (if desired)
-Extra Lenses (if possible)
-Clean shoes for after play
-Extra clothes for after play, if desired
-Umbrella (better to have and not need than to need and not have)
