I've been curious for a while as to why tournament modes have capped rates of fire or ramping modes? Was there a time where it was uncapped semi was tried in tournaments? I think it would be cool to see pros slinging 20bps and roasting people.

Yeah there was a time when they were uncapped but that's back when everyone shot cockers. And I think the bps cap is needed. It allows everybody so shoot the same speed and evens out the game. If a guy is shooting 20bps in semi but I can only shoot 12-13 bps then I'm at a disadvantage. But if we all can only shoot 12.5 bps then it's even and the game then relies more on the teams skill level and know how as opposed to seeing who can sit back and shoot faster.
