You're in a tournament or at a field and their paint is pure garbage. Everyone's breaking paint left and right but your gun, or someone else's isn't. What is it?

Is it sad that my G4 didn't break paint, when my friends Luxe did?

My axe with the boss bolt shot lasers with the shittiest paint and didn't break a single ball of GI 4 star on a rainy day.

On that note I just got a case of the proto paint (which is shit, dimpled and all) and my dm was chopping every 8th ball and my bossed axe shot it clean.

Using a gun that's been hardly maintained and tossed from person to person more than a village whore is hardly a fair way to compare the marker.

Isn't more expensive paint more brittle and cheaper paint more resistant?

Usually, yes; however, expensive brittle paint is also round and holds together at the seams.
Cheap, breaks-in-your-gun paint can sometimes be overly brittle, but it usually is just so old or poorly made that the seams are weak and/or the balls themselves are so deformed that they don't feed properly.

Oh that makes sense. So shit paint breaks since it won't fit right or its seams are weaker, Not that the shell itself is brittle.

My ego11 but that's cause I tuned the solenoid perfectly for brittle paint.

Both my Axe Pro (Boss Bolt) & Luxe 2.0 almost never break any paint. That and I can say for the Axe being less than 1/2 the price of the luxe, with a BOSS bolt it shoots almost as smooth, just not as comfortable in the hands and beautiful... :)
