So some walmart/Dick's sporting goods stores require you to be over 18 to buy paintball related paraphernalia.
Some may wonder; "But why mister register man? I just want to buy some pods for my local tourney!"
And mister register man sais "Because son if I sell to a minor the store is liable because you are a minor, you minor."

And so that brings me to the question; wut?

How do they know that you need to be over 18?
Some items are marked as over 18 items, such as M-Rated games, Alcohol (well 21 if you're american), etc.
Paintball just happens to be one of them. Once they scan, it pops up the DOB.
ID is required for them to punch the code in. You may get lucky and just use the honor system and tell them your birthdate (I got Crysis 2 without ID using the "honor" system, not really honor but that's besides the point), and they'll believe you or whatever and give it to you.

But the point being is that it's all a liability issue.
Now proshops aren't allowed to do this either, but because proshops are proshops and they're pros that are professional in what they're doing, they can tell which angsty young teenager is genuinely interested in playing some pball and which one just wants the marker for havoc and destruction. Because they're professionals in the proshop.

So that's my discussion/rant about how some people are confused at to why wally world won't sell them pods for their super important D1 tourney because their lock-lids broke.
Discuss where you get your paintball paraphernalia from and what happens at the register when you do.
I'm genuinely interested.
Give me gunz for my gunz.

This is pretty much my policy.Usually,my parents don't mind if I buy something that is less than about $200 without their permission(not that I have $200 to spend on something),and are usually pretty casual when it comes to me buying stuff.

I don't think they'll let you buy spray paint unless you're over 18 too. The paintball stuff Wal Mart carries now is a shadow of what they used to have. I remember pining over the translucent teal BE Stingrays...

^ That's because of some areas (particularly inner-city) have huge issues with graffiti and have made local laws against selling to minors in an attempt to stop it.

You can buy a Splatmaster shotgun from walmart with no DOB.

Its a business I know it sucks guys but look at it from their prospective. Most kids are not as cool as SOME of you guy (yes some of you suck...) that means 90+% of kids looking to buy paintball equipment may have bad intentions and I understand your pain I wish I could buy stuff locally and not have to pay shipping or wait but thats pretty much where we are unless you buy from your local pro-shop which I highly recommend!

Stay thirsty my friends...

I felt like I needed a catch phrase but I dont think that one is working...

DING DONG MOTHA FUCKA DING DONG!!!!

Ok that works...

Doesn't bother me any really. Over where I live you need to be 18 to play paintball anyway(to use the fun markers at least) but you can buy paintball stuff at any age. Though you need to be 16 to buy cigarettes, Weed and low % alcoholic drinks, 18 for driving, high % alcoholic drinks, prostitutes etc. They have to ID you for everything.

Going to a pro shop, I never had this problem when I was under 18. They would let me buy anything no matter what my age was, but one of them knew me pretty well, and the other knew that I actually was playing paintball. But walmart and other places don't want to be held liable for the choices of rebellious pre-teens and teens. Plus play probably save money on some sort of insurance/legal thing if they say you have to be 18+

Pods from Dicks? My shop's are cheap enough for me to just buy from them, WalMart and Dick's can go away.
