I am going to buy it around Christmas time to get a deal, but I think I'm going to go for the Nikon.

I will probably get a hard case for it, any other accessories you recommend?

Few things to definitely get-

1) SD Card (2GB is good)
2) Strap (if it doesn't come with one)
3) Screen protectors
4) Microfiber cleaning cloth
5) Extra battery if you can find it

That's all I can think of for now. Good luck with your purchase. Let me know if you have any more questions. PM me if you need anymore help.

I already have a bunch of microfiber cloths on hand because I have glasses and lots of electronics :P

Do they make screen protectors for cameras?

If you're getting a lot of flare when you use the lens, then yes.

I don't know anything about photography, but I'd like to start taking close-up highres pictures of my marker(s).

My budget would probably be around $300-400. Is that enough to take good closeup pictures or will I need to save some more?

Would I need to get a different camera to switch to action pics or would I just need a different lens?

Any help's appreciated :D

Canon Rebel XT - $245
http://www.keh.com/P...50/DC02/FE.aspx

Canon EF 50mm f1.8 - $84
http://www.keh.com/P...9N/CE06/FE.aspx

50mm is a good focal length for markers so you'd be in good shape here.

One of the 70-200L's, between $500 and $1800 depending on the version.

^ sigma makes great alternatives, but their quality control is wierd.
sometimes you'll get a good lens.
but on out of every... i'd say 75 lenses needs to be sent back to the store for replacement.

(although they are about $300 cheaper in some cases, so i dont mind an extra week or two of waiting) ;)

I would like to get a cheap, decent camera so I can take decent close up photos of my marker, instead of say, pictures that have the quality of a camera phone. I wouldn't like to spend over 200 dollars.

I would look into a Sony point and shoot or a canon one...
The sony one maybe better due to the Carl Zeiss lens on it.

Well if your just going to be making paintball videos you would want a camcorder. Look for a used Canon Vixia M30

you cant get much for 200 but the i would think the Kodak EasyShare Z950 is a decent point and shoot and you can get it for right around 150..You can also get a Fujifilm FinePix S2550HD but im not sure how good they are. Also the Canon PowerShot A1000 IS are pretty good point and shoots

Sorry to post so late haha

But does anyone here have knowledge on the tamron 28-75 f/2.8 lens? I hear its a very good alternative lens to the 24-70 f/2.8L and its less than 1/3 the price.
