It's good of you to take it down.

I guess just let anyone that asks know that you're a real paintballer...not a thrill seeker.

Oh I should post an update. Last week we tore down this field. Pretty dangerous field. It was on the side of a gully just downstream from a large Highways Bridge. Apparently it is in a flood zone and super close to the creek. The gully wall itself was about 60 feet high and pretty vertical, I would say a 120% slope (45 degrees = 100% slope). It's honestly a miracle that no one has broken a leg, arm or neck coming down that hill while playing (that we know of).

Littered along the side of the gully was a bunch of log bunkers, we cut them in sections and used the logs as fill for the foxholes that these players had made. We then covered them all up with the dirt they had dug out. There was also a small tree fort type structure that I ripped apart and those logs too were buried. It took about 7-8 volunteers just under an hour to get it all cleaned up.

I feel much better now. If I can find the newspaper article I will scan it and post it.

Were you one of the guys that built the field/played at it?

I give you props for being so safety conscious and all, but I would be rather pissed if I came to play one day and the field I had toiled to build had been destroyed.

No, I did not build or play at this field. It is a particular concern because the field was in a very fish sensitive area, and in a conservation park.

Sadly, we have no other option in my area other than to squat on City/Public/Crown Land. The people that setup this field did a pretty bad job, and definitely in the wrong place when there is already a renegade field in operation (for over twenty years now).

Well was it public land? If so then I would say destroying their field was wrong.

I bet someone is pretty pissed off right now. Maybe they don't like the other renegade field or the people who play there and wanted to build their own...

It's in a Conservation. While the land is Crown Land (belonging to the Government) it doesn't mean we can just go in there and do whatever we would like.

Hey way to go helping positively impact paintball's reputation. Great job and good to be contributing in such a way.

I would play there :)

This is great Spitle, while it did destroy years of work done by ballers, at least there was a positive side to it as you helped the local environment and paintball's reputation in the process.

digging make it dangerous for children and hikers? animals make holes and stuff. SAVE THE HIKERS AND CHILDREN, KILL ALL THE ANIMALS. and they said something about cutting trees down and all i see are branches. they would save more trees if they didnt make newspapers.

They did cut quite a few trees down. The area is frequented by hikers and is the next phase of a large pedestrian/nature walk that encircles the city I live in. It is quite close to new developments/subdivisions and is also a fish sensitive zone. It is irresponsible to put up a field there (even an outlaw field) where so many other sites that are more suitable and less damaging within a 20 minute driving radius.

Lawl, im over in kamloops. did the right choice by taking it down instead of trying to fight the power, to the ones saying fight the power, heres some info, Thats protected land, its also Crown land, think of it as the flordia netherglades, you build a paintball field in there expect be be fined and charged with some serious time and money, admiting that you built it in the first place, you wouldnt even be able to fight it, you would be fighting against legal fees the rest of your life. You are going against the government that has the right a way.
