Do you guys think the PSP World Cup should move around like the NFL Superbowl?

I think it'd be great, because I'm in California and it would be awesome for it to move around the country.

I'll start off the poll with the first vote.

Thanks for your input!

I say no.

World Cup has always been in Orlando / Kissimee Florida.

If you haven't been, World Cup is held at Disney's Wide World of Sports complex. Which is a fantastic venue for multiple reasons.

1.The area is very nice and presented well. Almost everything in the entire Disney area is very well kept up and nice looking. This is very important to those outside the sport possibly being exposed to it for the first time, they don't want to see some run down field with mud all over the place and think "So this is the biggest paintball tournament?"

2.Parking. If you have never been to World Cup the amount of parking needed to accommodate both players and fans is insane. This year Disney had to use an over flow lot because they were running out of room in the complex. In addition Disney also offered FREE busing to and from the other lot that literally picked you up curb side at the event. The buses ran all day free of charge with no more than 5-10 minute wait. Very few other venues can offer services like this.

3.Exposure. TONS of people go to Disney on a daily basis, for many World Cup may be the first paintball tournament they have ever seen. So its very important that it is at such a great venue so our sport is presented well to the public.

4.Nightlife / themeparks. Anyone who has been to World Cup will tell you that its not all about the paintball. Since World Cup is right inside Disney there is TONS to do at night or when you are not playing, from the infamous Old Town to all of Disneys great theme parks and attractions, restaurants and night clubs.

Also, if you have ever been to World Cup you would know that Disney's Wide World of Sports is very easy to spot. Its on a very major road that goes throughout Disney taking the public to and from other resorts and theme parks, the fact that it is in such a prominent place makes it easier for the public to come check it out since they are passing right by it.

Im sure there are other reasons I could have listed, but those are the first to come to mind.

Basically, what it comes down to is the quality of the Venue and the surrounding area. I think you will be very hard pressed to find another Venue quite as nice and accomodating as Wide World of Sports. Also the PSP as a very good long standing relationship with Disney, which is something they would do well to maintain.

That was a very logical and thought out post and I thank you for it. I never realized how big it actually was over there (never gone, in Cali). I guess I kind of agree now, I just think it would be cool if it moved around.

Keep the posts and votes comin' guys!!!

It would be nice, but still how often is it going to be close to you/ or close enough. Id rather never have the oppertunity to go and know that the sport i love is growing, and presented positivley to people who dont know it.
And i lived in orlado for a while there is tons of people and tons of things to do makeing it a great place to stay.
These are just my thoughts on the subject 8)

This is the attitude players need to have ^^^

If there was another venue and location that was on par with Disneys wide world of Sports I would say sure...move World cup every once and a while. But the fact is, I don't think there is another location / venue that can top Disneys wide world of Sports (multiple reasons listed in my above post).

I applaud you for having a selfless attitude and caring about how the sport is presented to the public more than being able to go yourself. Most kids attitude is "Omg move world cup so I can go and get some new gear and watch a few games". They usually do not care at all nor realize how much publicity and public exposure World Cup gets every year because of its location alone.

Wow, what flawless logic! You clearly put a lot of thought into that. "Well if one sport does it, so should we!" is what you are getting at right?

Football (American mind you. Not REAL football aka soccer.) Is probably THE most popular sport in America, and because it is so vastly popular there are tons of world class football stadiums to host the super bowl. There is probably one of these world class facilities in every state, making it VERY easy to move super bowl somewhere new every year.

Now clearly paintball is not even close to the level of popularity of football, we don't have paintball stadiums across the country who's specific purpose is to hold paintball events. We have to rent out venues, and right now Disney's Wide World of Sports is far and beyond THE best venue to hold and event the size of the PSP World Cup while maintaining a good and inviting public image. If there was another venue that was on par with Wide World of Sports I would say sure! move it around! But the fact is that at this moment no such venue exists or it does exist but it cannot accomodate the needs of a paintball tournament. If you need further persuasion please read my first post in this thread.

It would be awesome too, but I don't think that they have the resources. The superbowl has a huge fanbass and way more resources than the PSP World Cup. I totally would be for it ;)

I would love for it to be moving around, because I live in chicago and it's kind of expensive if I want to go down to Flordia to watch World Cup. Plus, there are a bunch of sportsplex's around chicago that have a great amount of area. They could even have it at like the united center if they wanted too. Put like 3 or 4 fields in there and put the venders in near the entrances. It could work :)

I think right now paintball needs some consistancy, world cup is an iconic event, we have already lost HB lets not move the world cup... its a venue thats known and for those who havn't been its pretty amazing.

I would expand but CK said it all really.

I say yes they should move it. It could give more people the ability to play or go to the world cup. Say people in CA may not be able to afford to go to Florida to play or see. Or also why do the teams in Florida have it a lot cheaper to play. No air fare, No hotel rooms, No rental cars. If you were to shift it around at least people would be able to look forward to participating in the world cup every few years without the high cost. Just my opinion.

I personally think they should move it. And if they did move it, they should put it in the middle of the country, say, chicago?

Chicago has many places with vast space (McCormick Place) that could be adapted to paintball.

It's also close to 2 airports (O'hare and Midway) making it easy for many people to get there

I did say yes, but now that read the whole thread, I've changed my mind, it's true we do need that one event that everyone ants to attend and that will get huge exposure every time. An event like World cup always gives and gets more people int the sport just because of its location and if you can't go, wacth the webcast! Or wait for TechPB to put all their amazing coverage of the event up and running.

I vote keep it at Disney. But if it has to move we should send it to London.
1. London has 5-6 airports (easy travel)
2. The event would more truly represent it's name WORLD Cup
3. London has other stuff to do (like Orlando/Kissimme)
4. Numerous quality venues (Millenium Dome, Emirates Stadium, etc.)

-1. Added cost for all involved (except Planet Eclipse and a few others)
The great players don't have time to bicker about which is better: Speedball or Woodsball. They just play both.

are you insane, most the teams that play in the world cup are from the US. It would not only be expencive to the teams but the total number of fans that go would prob. drop by half if not more.

we should either leave it where it is or put it somewhere in the middle of the country
