WiscoBaller, on 27 September 2012 - 04:24 PM, said:yes. A gasifier uses heat to expel flammable gasses from wood that is powerful enough to run a standard engine after modified.
no real mods to the engine other than adding a woodgas/air mixing valve. modern engines even take care of spark advance for you. I'll be setting it up dual fuel so it will still run gas if i want it too and will be able to switch on the fly.
here's a link to my small gasser if anyone is interested

what tools? a dremel. lots of jb weld.... that's it really so far.
sorry for taking so long... been busy with building a gasifier for my truck. for those that don't know what that is it will allow me to run my truck on wood instead of gasoline.
I'll get back to the traccer as soon as i can and i'll post pics as i get them done -

obviously not finished... I've used nothing but standard hand tools and jb weld... that mag housing is steel
Yes, i have to make a front mounting point... I have ideas for that, as well as a mag latch and release. I can't say it's been very hard so far. -
