  1. Double Feeding Without a Return Spring - Fact or Myth?

    10 June 2012 - 10:55 PM

While servicing several of my markers today, the topic of double feeding without a return spring on a cocker came to mind.My pump stroke is ultra smooth/light - a double feed has never occurred simply by running or sprinting without a return spring. I've read multiple posts about markers double feeding while running due to the pump handle moving. (Nothing will prevent double feeding if the pump is forcibly hit while sliding/diving etc) I've always been skeptical of this, and decided to actually check it out. Turns out to be an Urban Legend. With a properly adjusted cocker, it is almost impossible, and have the pics to back it up. Even with a force-fed hopper, I've never had that happen. Double feeds only occur with a weak detent or user error. If a normal paintball could fit between the bolt and the breech in pics 2-4, or enough to get chopped, the pump handle is being pushed against by more than just the forces of running, or the paintball is deformed. To open the breech further (in pics 3&4) by just running is impossible. At that point, the main spring is under high tension with the marker cocked.

Awesome, I love ninja. If you email Ray from Ninja, he can get you a reg for about $40. Or you can do a ninja reg swap with hyrdo for like $50 I think.

I use thesame picture on the Brian Enos Forum. I shoot IPSC with the gun pictured in Standard Class. And yes, I've competeted in your neck of the woods in PA.
As for paintball I've been shooting paint since the early 80's whe we used .38's with paint caps and a magnum primer...real old school!
I run with two markers. One Full House NXT it rocks! and an A1 that...
