Posts I've Made
20 May 2013 - 09:24 AMStill exhausted by just a quick note about the Wounded Warrior tanks. Next year they will have cages built into them to make them more like tanks and protect the veterans in them. The goal is to make them more like the other tanks to prevent confusion and protect the veterans.
This was supposed to be done this year but Team Defiant had some technical issues and it didn't get done. This left me faced with being a hard-ass and telling the vets they couldn't get out there and play because this didn't get done, or following my conscience and hoping the players would understand and cooperate to help me get these TRUE HEROES onto the field regardless of the ball being dropped with regard to the lack of my mandated chair modifications.
But this WILL be fixed next year. You have my word on it.
Glad to hear, Viper. It's great work that they've done, but there were issues with the tanks. I'd recommend the addition of a large flagstick as well, since the vet tanks were pretty short and were hard to see sometimes.
Also, I wish we'd had a tarp or tent over registration lines on Friday...
12 May 2013 - 12:04 PMLast year had nothing against LL3. I still like LL4s weather most. Got a bit touch and go with light drizzle, but playing in cloudy weather was so much cooler. I'm up for just about anything though.
12 May 2013 - 11:44 AMGive it a Z-frame. You're welcome TechPB.
10 May 2013 - 07:58 PMA bit bummed that Planet Eclipse isn't coming, but still, hell of a good turnout. Great work Sean.
I really want to take a look at some of the smaller booths, especially anything FS related.
10 May 2013 - 07:44 PMLike Spider, I got to play with Borg at LL3, which I believe was his last visit to the US. He was a great guy, very funny, and an awesome player. I distinctly remember getting in a mess along the northern woods of CPX, close to the tape, and I was about 20 yards ahead of the rest of our team, and 20 yards ahead of me was Borg, alone and cool as could be. Then I got shot in the face. Good times.
Borg was an inspiration for me. He and Mike were the two contributors that really got me into the sport and helped me get through long, cold, Northeast winters. I miss Borg a lot, but its good to remember him like this.
