Hmm, time for heads-up display for paintball matches! Identify targets, get paintball count from hopper via bluetooth, overhead map of the field via google maps, and possibly even share your vision with other players!

(ps this is a joke. I highly doubt the technology is there).

So... I guess a serious question is if you're out playing a long day of paintball does this help mask the smell of sweat and such? I imagine it doesn't, so I wonder what the point is. If anything it's the taste of paint that bothers me, not the smell.
  3. In Topic: My local field announced its closing today :(

    13 April 2013 - 01:48 PM

There was a field around here, about 15 minutes away in Bowie. I played my first paintball game there, and I enjoyed it but back then it was just a once off thing. Last year I really got into paintball again and started buying my own stuff and the field is closed :( It's sad because it was so close, and was much better than the field I go to now, which is about 45 minutes away from my sister's house, which is about 45 minutes away from where I live. It was a decent field, with a real speedball(or one of the *ball fields) with blow-up bunkers and such, and then had nice woodsball fields and a CTF castle. The field I go to now has a "speedball" field on a slope with wooden bunkers and such and has a bunch of woodsball fields, but it's like a 5 minute walk from one field to the next, and the staging area is a hell of a long walk back from any of the fields. It makes for an exhausting day of paintball with all the hiking around.
  4. In Topic: Raw Video or Video with music

    08 April 2013 - 08:50 PM

I can't stand starting a video up and having heavy metal or something blasting.

If you were to have music, I'd say the best is to not let it be the focal point of the video. The video is about paintball, not what music you like. Have it soft in the background and make sure we can hear the video(surprisingly I like hearing the sounds of paintballs and such). Also make sure you pick appropriate music that matches what's going on in the video.

^^^ get an egg and shoot it at point blank.

Take a grape, and hit it with a hammer, same effect. SQUISHY

Wow, don't know how I forgot about this one. I think I will actually ask the field owner if I can do that during orientations. Don't want to scare anyone into not playing though.

I don't know if that would actually work. People will probably just lump it in with "lecture stuff" and since it's not actually a paintball and an eyeball, just scoff it off as "responsible people exaggerating." I just don't think they'd believe the connection between the force of a hammer and the force of a paintball.

I think shooting something like a peach or something similar to the size of an eye(shooting a grape would probably be very hard) with an actual paintball will probably have a bigger impact. Then again if you're actually shooting stuff then everyone would have to be masked up and such... and that'd be a lot of peaches.
