Topics I've Started
08 May 2013 - 08:48 AMSo, I was disassembling my reg on my Proto Rail, which according to hustle pb, requires removing the grip frame. I tried removing the grip frame, but i can't remove the wires for the life of me. Once I put the reg back together, I put in a fresh battery to go shoot it. It's acting up. Air is leaking out of the back, the eyes are going crazy, and when it does shoot, the balls just roll out of the barrel. The gun cycles once and then the eyes act like they're not working, but I cleaned the eye pipe and gently cleaned the breach. Does anybody know what's going on? I'm really close to just sending it to dye, since the closest store that services Proto is 3 hours away.
Thanks for your help.
23 April 2013 - 08:07 PMI've had the Proto Rail for 6 or so months now, and put about 8-9 cases through it, so I think i'll put a review up.
Here we go:
Barrel-It works. It's a barrel. Honing is pretty good. Glossy on the inside. It is a tad hard to point, being only 11 1/2", so i picked up a disruptive two piece barrel (shout out to Orange Chicken )
Body/Milling- Nice milling. It looks great. The Anno is really nice. I got mine in dust blue. It looks blurple until you take it into the sunlight. It looks amazing on sunny days
Feedneck- It's a composite clamp around an aluminum neck. It works well. I've taken a few spills and my Pinokio has never moved. It isn't a lever feedneck, so it's a slight inconvenience.
Frame/Grips-Soft and comfy grips that wrap around the front, feels nice but it's a little too fat around my ring and pinky fingers. the frame is nothing to scream about, just composite.
Trigger- It's ridiculously light. It feels like plastic. There is a little side to side motion, but not enough to say THIS TRIGGER SUCKS IT'S UNUSABLE RAGERAGERAGE
Regulator- Here's where i complain a little. It's the hyper3 reg, same internals as the DM's. It wobbles. The reg is held to the body by a nut on top of the reg itself. this keeps it on the gun. the reg is attached to the nut, but not tightened by it, giving it the ability to swivel. It bugs me a lot on the field. It's not going to fall off during a game or anything, it's just a little hinderance.
EDIT: the wobbling is able to be fixed, it's just like that out of the box. Tighten it properly when you get around to servicing your regulator.
ASA/Line- It's a standard ASA, not an on/off. It's a bit of a shame they didn't put one on, since the eXTCy has one. The steel braided line is nice, since it's one less thing to worry about.
Performance/Efficiency- It shoots really smooth. It's incredibly soft on paint, and the sound signature is pretty sweet. The Rail's biggest downfall to me is efficiency. You can get roughly 4 pods with a 48/3000. I can barely play two games without needing to fill up. I have to fill up after every game on an airball field. God, I ned a 68/45.
Reliability- Never broke down on me once.. I hope never. I've never gotten a chop or barrel break for that matter.
Maintenance-It's low maintenance, I haven't had to replace an o-ring yet. It also isn't lube sensitive. You should consider getting an o-ring pick to get an o-ring on the front of the bolt off. The steel braided line contributes to the low maintenance factor, so no new macro every season!
Overall, the Rail should definitely be considered when looking for a first marker. I love it, and I'd choose it over an eXTCy or any other marker in the price range, new of course.
TL;DR: Shoots nice, feels good, Barrel is too short for my taste, efficiency is really bad.
That's about it guys, thanks for taking a little bit of time reading this. If I goofed, or if there's something you think I could improve or elaborate on, please let me know.
18 February 2013 - 07:56 AMI posted a shooting video on Facebook to showcase my new marker. Big Mistake. I wore a mask, and right away i start getting shit thrown at me. It's mostly joking, but it's endless. I hate it. I mean wearing a mask when you're by yourself is for that "one in a million" instance where I need it, but I was showing a little common sense, and according I'm an idiot. This isn't the first time. I told one of them ( the one who asked why I was wearing a mask) I wear a padded shirt (padding on the forearms and kidneys), He wouldn't shut up about how "GAAAAYYYYYYYY" I was and how much of a pussy I am, blah blah blah.
Thank you all for listening to my rant.
So what do you guys think? Is it not that big of a deal?
24 January 2013 - 08:26 PMon the BST forum someone is selling a DP g4. I like the way it looks, he's fixed all the normal issues of bolt stick and leaks with new macroline and a TechT bolt kit. He's selling it for a very reasonable price, $190. should i consider this marker, or wait and save up for another marker around $250?
21 January 2013 - 09:52 AMI was just looking over the dangerous power g4 and doing a little research, and I hear all these bad reviews. ANS rated it five stars, but I've heard efficiency issues and air leaks all the time. Also, I guess DP's customer service sucks? I just wanted to know if the rumors were true or not. Thanks guys.
