Too hazy, you need filters.

You have to know HOW to take pictures, not just wield an expensive camera.

if your camera was only 160, your not gonna be able to use filters. the little glass circles you screw onto the ends of slr lenses and aux. lenses for high end p&s and compacts

They're actaully not called p&s. They are called DSLR's or SLR's.

Seriously. Its not haze. Its flare. Digital cameras don't need UV filters anymore. They're built into the sensor

uhm, buddy, thats what i said. so before playing camera expert, read.

to clear it up, axillary lenses, like the one that can fit on my canon g10, which i remember not to be an slr, can also fit filters on the front.

you can do a lot with after effects in your DSLR or computer these days however, adding a polarizing filter on a bright day will do wonders for saturation in your picture making it more pleasing to the eye, and having a UV filter kicking around to slap on the front for protection (especially for taking extreme sports shots) is never a bad idea. These shots aren't the best, the situations mostly look like a point and shoot would be the camera of choice and I'd juuuuust about say that's what it looks like was used in most but some of these shots have very little ISO noise in them o I'm guessing you used something with a respectable image sensor

the fire one is cool, the baseball one is sharp aside from the flare, the waterfall one would be cool if you maybe sharpened it a bit and messed with the saturation...? and a better angle on the waterfall would be cool too

Are you serious? You've prided yourself as a "professional" photographer for the past few months, and you don't even see the benefit of filters off the camera? I'd never use a filter programmed into the camera.

He's more or less correct. Digital sensor assemblies have a series of filters in front of the sensor that block IR and UV transmission. Modern lens multicoating also knocks out UV.

So UV filters are effectively obsolete, but remain marketable as protective filters.

When did I ever claim to be pro?
I've never made that claim. I don't even call myself a photographer unless shooting for my school, in which, I am being a photographer.

Besides a polarizing filter, there is no real need for many filters now-a-days and in my opinion, UV ones are a total waste of money. I'd just as soon buy a clear filter.

Lenses nowadays have coatings on the front and sensors have protective layers on them to protect against UV.
Please. Do not doubt that I know what I am talking about.
