G4: Work on standing up on the bike, not moving, without touching the ground. It is really hard when you start, but it gets easier over time.

I rode my bike to and from work today. A lot more fun than driving my truck, thats for sure. Have to get used to dodging cars instead of trees, though. Those fuckers are tricky.

Yup. And just practise.

Im going to try and learn more flatland since there really isnt anything to ride around here so in technicality I ride flatland, but I like to say I ride street, just do not have the balls to grind or ride stairs, gosh those scare me.

well, i dont ride much anymore, but i saw this and thought i would post a little bit of my history. i used to race both road and mountain for a boarding school, holderness. was a division champion in road racing while i was there, and was offered a couple scholarships to different colleges. my real passion was mountain biking though. started out racing XC, did a few enduro races, 1 24 hour race.... then got into DH and Freeride, and fell in love with freeride. i started out doing trials type riding on a K2 razorback team i had picked up... great little hard tail, only paid 75 bucks for it. then i picked up a Santa Cruz bullit and built her up into my dream bike. ended up getting outof the sport because i ahd to sell all my bikes to pay for an apartment. hope to back into again someday... i really want a santa cruz VP Free, but they are not made anymore...

first real mountain bike- Cannondale Super V 400 (piece of shit)
Giant XTC SE2 hard tail, upgraded the shots to a marzocchi z2 super fly
Kona King Kikapu (unified rear end, old school Kona rig) full XT parts...
K2 Razorback team hard tail with full XTR parts... upgraded teh shock to a 'zoke z1fr sl...
Santa Cruz Bullit- full XTR drive train with truvativ crank set. Atomic wheels, hayes disc breaks, rock shoxs Boxxer ride fork....

road bikes- cannondale r400
klein quantum
trek 5200

probally wont be posting much in here, but if you guys have any questions feel free to hit me up..

legit. I need to pick up some new grips. And probably whole new bike next year. Looking for something along the lines of an old Norco 6-2 or Aline. That way i can DJ with it fine here, and still go out and do some DH a few times a year and not have to rent.

You usually have to put something solid inside the dirt so it holds the shape more, something like a log or a wooden pallet. Maybe your little brother..

So, I royally fucked my Diamondback this past weekend. Managed to bend my highest chain ring gear, bend the front fork, pop a tube, and bend my rear derailer. Took it into the local bike shop yesterday to have them replace everything with some road friendly stuff. It will now be a rigid, single speed, cruiser/commuter bike. 32-14 gearing with 1.5" road tires, Avid brake levers with updated Tektro V brakes.

On the other hand, Im trading my Viking for an 07 Iron Horse Sunday Team edition DH bike, which I will (rather unwisely) be using as my trail bike. 45lbs, with 8 inches of travel on both ends. Climbs are going to be absolute hell..

I am still trying to figure out what bike to get. Hit and miss really, so I can't be too picky. Although, it needs to be able to do some jumps, without breaking the cranks like I did on my last bike Posted Image

Lookin' for my next mtb. for $400 or under. Used that is.

Specialized Hardrock Comps could be found for about that much. Depending on the jumps, they might be a little weak, though. They are mostly XC bikes. Best bet is to find a 24" BMX/DJ bike. Those are usually cheaper and stronger than regular MTB's..

You could do that. A new set of cranks suitable for jumping would be around $100, though. You would also be looking at a new wheel set, upwards of $300 for a really strong set. If not, you could end up with a pair of silver tacos..

So, after fighting with myself about this for a few weeks, I finally decided to start building up my Banshee Chaparral frame. Here is what is going onto it:

Wheels:
SRAM X9 hubs
Syncros FR DS32 rims
PWB Spokes
WTB Mutano Raptor tires

Drivetrain:
Shimano XT M770 9spd cassette 11-34
SRAM X9 Trigger Shifter
SRAM X9 Derailleur
Race Face Evolve single speed 32t
E13 XCX Chainguide
Blackspire Sub-4 Pedals

Brakes:
Avid BB7 Mechanical Disc Brake 185f/160r
Avid FR5 brake levers

Using some existing spare parts I have, I will have a new AM/FR bike. Total build is going to be about $1050, which is pretty cheap. If I put the X0 group with Juicy 7s, it would have jumped to about $3000.

I will laugh as they overwhelm our enemies in a flurry of spotted banana hammocks.

So, after fighting with myself about this for a few weeks, I finally decided to start building up my Banshee Chaparral frame. Here is what is going onto it:

Wheels:
SRAM X9 hubs
Syncros FR DS32 rims
PWB Spokes
WTB Mutano Raptor tires

Drivetrain:
Shimano XT M770 9spd cassette 11-34
SRAM X9 Trigger Shifter
SRAM X9 Derailleur
Race Face Evolve single speed 32t
E13 XCX Chainguide
Blackspire Sub-4 Pedals

Brakes:
Avid BB7 Mechanical Disc Brake 185f/160r
Avid FR5 brake levers

I wish a could build my own bike. But I got no clue what parts are good, bad, and terrible. And it would be pretty expensive. I still want a scheme like this though:

Anyone know how much a custom paintjob would be? Posted Image

Depends on if you want it anno'd or powdered. For anno, think paintball costs, times 3. Powder might be like $100, depending who you get to do it.

That bike is pretty damn expensive, though. Frame alone is like 1.5k Not to mention the 1k suspension setup, or the 1k wheel set.

On another note, I might be trading my Luxe for a freshly built Eastern Journey BMX bike in the next few days. :)

I will laugh as they overwhelm our enemies in a flurry of spotted banana hammocks.

Oh, I don't want THAT bike :P what I meant by scheme was only talking colours. My dad has a GT XCR 1000 [From about 14 years ago] And it is full suspension. I hate it compared to Hardtails.

and BMX -.-

Oh, haha. It is a pretty sweet looking color setup. I personally wouldn't use it, as I'm more of a black and red fan, but go for it.

BMX isn't THAT bad. Especially if you have some dirt jumping trails, or parks near you. Taking a 22 pound bike 10 feet in the air can be a lot more fun than taking a 45 pound bike 5 feet in the air. Hell, it's even fun to take them out on the XC trails. No brakes, tiny-almost-bald tires? Good luck trying NOT to have fun when you go down a hill.

Its more of the size of BMX's. My old Mountain Bike, which I sold because it became to small Posted Image , was a WHOPPING ...... 21 pounds Posted Image
Thats the whole shi-bang. It was a KHS Alite 4000. So... so.... SO light.

I am gonna be at a bike shop tomorrow probably. I'll find out what the owners opinion is.

Yeah, BMX's are a lot smaller than regular bikes, but I kind of like that. Gives you more freedom to play with them.

KHS Alite are nice bikes. I demo'd one from a local shop a few months back. I liked the way it felt on pavement, but it was giving me small creaks, so I wouldn't have trusted it on dirt.

Being around 190-195 right now, I NEED a bike that is strong enough to carry my fat ass around, off drops and such. Otherwise I would be breaking frames left and right. That's the only reason I have been using my Diamondback as just a commuter, and my DH sled as my trail bike.

I will laugh as they overwhelm our enemies in a flurry of spotted banana hammocks.

Ah, I'm only 140 or so, I might have to try a good BMX before I decide whether I like them or not, either way, I won't be buying one right away.
My KHS was a higher end one, which they no longer sell. IF my information is correct, it is above all of the current models, excluding "team"
(Obviously, this is no longer the case. I meant then)
... I still got pictures:

Keep in mind, any 'abuse' marks you see, were from the previous owner.

So there is your proof a "alite 4000" exists :P

It did just find on trails. The last time I rode it on a decent trail, I came flying around a corner. Down the hill, Come to an opening... "OH SHIT MUD" and I couldn't steer around because some 'cruisers' were in the way.

I think it was like 8" of mud :P
