November 14th, 1965 marks the day when the US faced its first major battle of the Vietnam War in the Battle of la Drang. Dramatized in the popular movie starring Mel Gibson, the Battle of la Drang spanned over four days and two landings zones (or LZ's) in the highlands of South Vietnam.

Background: VC forces begin to strengthen their divisions throughout the countryside, avoiding major roadways and relying on the rugged terrain to give them an advantage. Through intelligence gathering efforts, the US discovers the potential location of a concentration of VC forces on Chu Pong Mountain. General Westmoreland decides to test the validity of this intelligence by sending a reconnaissance in force, which ultimately results in the worst ambush in the entire Vietnam War and one of the bloodiest battles in the Vietman War.

The story behind the events at the Battle of la Drang will be the basis of our first TWO day scenario game on May 7 & 8 at PBC Paintball Park in Greenville, South Carolina. If you've never played at the PBC Park in Greenville, this battle will be a perfect fit for this park, with area of thick vegetation, a creek that runs through the park, and selective open areas that will be used as the LZ's on 50 acres.

Park Information:----------------------------------------------------------
PBC Sports Park Greenville
318 Tucapau Road
Wellford, SC 29385

This park has 50 acres of sparse open terrain, untouched wooded areas, developed wooded areas with pillboxes and bunkers and a pond that partially divides the field. The field layout is such that it will play out much like the actually LZ's and layout around Chu Pong.
