I hear some people talking about gear and buying it for the bounces.

I understand why, but... why?

I have a proflex because they breath amazingly!
I wear the groundpounder shirt because nipple shots hurt :P
I have a 3xl jersey because its comfy and roomy! (and I'm big so meh)

Do you buy gear for the bounce or for the function?

I think Pb is mostly about being comfortable. If you're comfortable, you're prob gunna play better. Like if you're playing shirtless you prob won't play the same as if you're wearing two shirts and pads. If a bounce vest makes someone feel good then more power to them

I like my jersey being a bit smaller. The team jerseys I wore when I played tournament speedball for a season were all XXL and they were ginormous! I am 5'11 and 140 pounds so that's extremely baggy for me. In all honest, I do care a lot more about looks then function because I like to look good on the field. That being said, I do make sure to buy at least a size large for a jersey so I get some bounce.

more of a double wammy thing. even though i dont play snake i wear elbow pads for bounces. and i honestly didn't realize how many bounces i got until i started wearing them religiously. i always thought it was bs but it really isn't quite surprising. they also serve a function if i do need to fill into the snake as well. bounce really is function. if it's helping paint not break on you then that's the goal. also why chest protectors arent allowed in tournies.
just smile =)

I dont do it for the bounce. Like Damian said, you should dress for comfortablility. I wear pads for safety not bounces.

I do get more bounces off of my baggy valken fate pants then I did when I played with normal jeans. Plus the padding (as skimpy as it is) does feel a whole world better then wearing my jeans. It's nice to be comfy when I'm taking a knee, or I'm braced against a bunker.

I play on mainly recball fields and I have a weird OCD thing that I'm scared I am going to cut myself on the plywood bunkers they have, If I wear elbowpads, I got nothing to worry about :D

iam really skinny, jerseys and pants for me is Medium and i use Large. Like someone above said, you gotta be confy. if you feel good with baggy clothes so you should use it. but for some people they prefer using tight jerseys and pants, it makes then confortable. i mean, if you play with good grade paintballs, even in a soft surface it will break. thats why i dont spend my money with chest protector and slide shorts for exemple, i play with a t-shirt/jersey or in hot days just with the tshirt.i use big jerseys/pants becouse its confortable and i think it looks cooler

Honestly the only places I get bounces is my neck, elbow pads, and knees. Other than that I rarely get bounces anywhere else.

But like said above its about comfort.

I just think bounce vests are pointless, since thats where I hit most of the people. I get that you want to stay in the game longer but it's rec ball, who cares if you get shot out?
