Man, I'm trying to transpose part a song from Treble clef to Bass clef, and it's sooo time consuming on a laptop.

I may, but TAB works nicely for me as of now. I understand note duration, and I could tell you what the note was if you pointed to it (only in standard key), but I suck at actually reading it at the pace it's going, and when the key is different.

Musicians NEED to learn to read music, It will get you very far in the musical world and you will be admired because you can read. No matter how good you are, you will not be considered as highly as someone who can read music well.

OH! and went to Water polo practice today for my new high school (summer practice) and Met one of the other Bassists in my Jazz band! (I haven't been to Jazz band yet, I start next school year)
I thought it was pretty neat that we both play H2o polo and are in Jazz band first period (6:50 AM). Guess I'll prob. wind up being friends with him. He was pretty cool. Posted Image

I just downloaded a free one online :P

Also, the thing about not being considered as highly if you can't read music, that isn't true. I don't remember the name, but there was a REALLY famous, insane trumpet player waaay back in the day, and he couldn't read music at all.

Okay when I said you wont be considered as highly, I meant among other musicians who can read music and yes, you can get good, but without the ability to read, you may be at a loss in some areas.

There's an extremely small number of successful musicians that can't read.

Hans Zimmer (composer of the Gladiator soundtrack) can't read music, but he composes using a piano/Finale. That's one example, but I don't know any others. However, I can name off plenty of successful composers and musicians that DO read.

Hey guys.

Have any of you ever heard of Wynton Marsalis? I'm sure at least some of you have.

Anyways, my school jazz band's classroom page has a link to a set of videos where he leads a rehearsal with his orchestra, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. I think these videos are SO cool. Wanted you all to check one of them out.

http://deeper.io/jal...=512&height=288

This is the 2011-2012 rehearsal.

Singing by yourself < Singing with friends Always. And one doesn't simply sing where-ever they please. You have to make sure there is nobody around. Posted Image I don't like singing by myself (Unless I got my choir buddies around.)
