Just set up my electric kit for my trombone, and it sounds wicked. Once I scrape some of the rust off my chops, I'll record something.

ok i looked it up and i cant say much, im not sure about agathis wood, but i can say the maple neck and rosewood fret board is good, and im not sure about the pick ups....? if your serious about this then i think you shouldnt jump right into this one maybe look at some other basses and definably look up reviews on this bass.
Ibanez makes great basses both my basses are ibanez.
Fender also makes outstanding basses

i would suggest that you find a nice used Fender P bass (and yes that random "P" is part of the name)
fender makes what they call american deluxe P and Jazz basses but those are over $1000...
for just starting out a nice used fender P bass with some new strings of normal gauge would take you a long way. heck buying new is fine too

Turkey, how hard is it to replace a pick guard? I was looking at the fenders.

Instead of a white pick guard i was going to replace it with a black

well its usually simple taking off strings and unscrewing the old guard. and then putting on the new one but sometimes you might have to take off the pic ups i would read a manual, but it is definably a do-it-yourself job

I wish more people were in band, it's a great program!

What I really hate is people who bash on the band or orchestra as being "nerdy". /:

It's really obnoxious of them, especially the football players at my school. Our school finished 0 -7 in the season. They sure are athletic! Posted Image

Funny thing is, while all the athletes are known around the school, and have all the preppy girls hanging all over them, the band girls are twice as easy to get with, and twice as crazy when you do. Considering all the football games I have played at, the basketball games I played at, the jazz concerts, the symphony concerts, and all the girls and parties that I had with the band, I wouldn't trade it for being one of the athletes at all.

I will laugh as they overwhelm our enemies in a flurry of spotted banana hammocks.
