I used to cut and edit songs together as a mash up DJ back in high school. Layering a few separate audio files together will be no problem for me, as long as I can find my old software.

I played straight through high school, and stopped as soon as I graduated. I pick up my horn every few months for an hour or so, but I'm still pretty rusty. I can't even play some of the music I played as a beginner in 5th grade, although I can still improv like a mother fucker.

I could also do some vocals if we decide to all do parts of a song to cut together.

Lettering shouldn't be in the center, it distracts from the logo as a whole (IMO).

Bach 42 is solid. Same model I have used for almost 10 years. King 2B is also a great choice, but I don't think those have the trigger.

Just googled them. There's bach 42B, bach 42BO, and bach 42BOG. The more letters, the more expensive.. what's the difference between them, do you know?

Eww alesis. Their dirt cheap and quality is not up to par with other companies. The triggering is also sometimes awful with lower end models.

Spend your money on a nice set of rolands.

Good luck though

Really I thought alesis was at the top of the game. I know the cheaper ones aren't the greatest but I've only seen great reviews about the studio dm 10 drums.

Nevermind, I figured them out. One is conventionally wrapped(the F attachment) and one it open wrapped. I tihnk I will get the conventionally wrapped one, unless there is a difference in quality/tone of the open and conventional wraps?

The biggest differences are various features on the horns. They are all mostly the same, in terms of bell shape and size, slide length, etc. But some have compact F tubing, high flow valves, dual triggers (F, C), etc, etc.

I have the 42B, which is a pretty run of the mill horn. Compact tubing with a rotary valve, which makes the F trigger tuning predictable, but you lose a lot of volume from the way it is designed - All the turns and the way the valve works make air travel more difficult. On the other hand, a 42T is a more high end horn, with straight tubing and a Thayer valve. Tuning is a bit more difficult, but the air path is much smoother, allowing for quicker transitions at the same volume.

In the middle are the horns like 42BO, which use straight tubing and rotary valve, or 42C which would let you change out the entire F trigger for a straight shooter.

I will laugh as they overwhelm our enemies in a flurry of spotted banana hammocks.

Okay, now that's just freaking COOL.

I'll probably just end up getting the 42B, It sounds like a nice, affordable great horn. It will be my first one, so I'm pretty excited :) Umm anything you think I should get? I looove playing jazz, but also will have to play classical, just standard concert band music in high school. Maybe certain mouth piece recommendations for a different sound?

Who's got two thumbs and is getting a new alesis dm 10 studio electric drum set. This guy right HERE!!!!! :D :D :D
Also I like the sig, simply but elegant.

When playing on a dm8 it was very shaky and wobbly . I don't know about the dm10s hardware but if its like the dm8's i'm not too impressed.

Ok, if it's going to be your first horn, don't get a nice horn like a 42, especially if you will be playing in a marching band. I used mine for that, and it has had dent repairs on everything from the horn to the slide, and had the trigger itself broken off several times. Get yourself a TB200 or something similar. It will be cheaper up front, and cheaper to repair and maintain. And playing without the F trigger is still just as easy.

As far as mouthpieces, it really depends on your lip size, embouchure, comfortable playing range, and even what horn you use. I started on a small bore straight shooter and a 12C mouthpiece, which was great for playing quick, jazzy stuff, especially in the higher register. When I first got my 42B, it came with a 6 1/2 AL, which was wider and a little deeper, capable of playing lower, while still maintaining the high range. My senior year, I picked up a 5G mouthpiece, which is even deeper and wider than the AL. Generally, it is used for playing in the lower register and keeping smooth sounding mids, but is outclassed on highs.

Small bore, shallow cup, and narrow rim is good for fast paced highs that you might find in jazz or marching music.
Big bore, medium cup and medium rim is good for general all around use. It's a flexible piece that comes with any Bach instrument, and will probably work fine for anything you could throw at it.
Big bore, deep cup, large rim is good for slow, melodic lows that you might see in the concert pieces if you take the lower parts.

Well, don't get me wrong I've used nice horns before in marching band etc. I keep great care of my horn, school rented or not. I think I will get the nicer horn, otherwise it will be a looooooong time before I get another one, if at all. in 7th grade, my director gave me a brand new horn (still had the plastic over the case) to use. Used it for two years, returned it in the exact condition I got it in. Brand new.

I started using the F trigger last year, and learned fast. Quite a bit of music that my director is giving me is a hell of a lot easier with the trigger, so I would prefer one with it. Bottom line is that I want one that I will be more than happy with for years to come.

I might pick up 2 mouth pieces, one for high/jazz one for "all purpose" types of music.
