The second picture is a very beautiful landscape shot.
Love how the road just adds depth to the picture and the fog/clouds looks great around those mountain tops.

The other two feels a bit overexposed, but I'm a person who likes things just a bit underexposed. Posted Image

I really enjoy the second picture of mine as well.

And yes they are on purpose just solely on the fact that I do like pictures slightly over exposed like you said. :)

Stig, you likin that new lense?

Spyder- I really like your 3rd picture. Where is that? The only thing is that the tower in the center is chopped off and things like that annoy me personally, but not a huge issue for most people.
I like the depth of field in your 1st picture. The second one just seems slightly off to me, I can't put my finger on it quite but it's still nice.

On another note, I also gave up on paintball awhile ago as well. I am also focusing on music and photography. Here's a combination of the two. :)

I am currently using a Nikon d50, as for lenses I have the 50mm 1.8D on there now. I also have the 18-55 kit lens and the 55-200mm VR in the mail :)
I also had a Nikon Coolpix L110 that many of these shots were taken with. (Traded it for the two lenses)

Again I am very new to photography so my pictures are far from perfect :)

P.S I dont own photoshop (Didn't want to make over a 200 dollar purchase on software since I didn't know if I was going to stick with photography) That being said these are all untouched by any photo editing software.

How did you make your watermarks?

Very nice. It looked like Vegas, but I wasn't sure where.

As for my watermarks, I made them used Paintshop Pro X4. It is an alternative program to photoshop that only runs for $50 right now and does virtually the same things needed for photographers for over half the price. Works amazing.

Chris,
Your pictures look awesome in my opinion man. Probably even better than mine :P

I really enjoy your perspective shown in your pictures, and un-touched by any editing softwares, the framing is nearly flawless on a few. Nice work man

I would add you, but Stig has to be the one to do it. I'd say you're in!

Where did you purchase your 50mm 1.8? I've been looking for one cheaper just cause they are awesome lenses to have and mess around with.

For my own stuff,
I received my ring flash today! so more to come with that. I am ordering a studio lighting box and trying to pick up a 50mm 1.8 lense^^

Hopefully things work out and money stays steady <3

also, I am shooting a tournament on Sunday so I will post a few of those pictures here as well!

Nobben, do it. Make it the Nikon club :P

The water pictures is legit! The bit of water further back that is out of focus (I think its water) gives it a good feel and makes it interesting and not just a bunch of blank space. What do you use for lighting?

Great pictures zero!

Blueminishooter - Believe it or not that out of focus part is the waters shadow. I haven't put money into lighting just yet so I use a regular table lamp (with the shade reversed so I can direct the light) a couple led flashlights and of course my on board camera flash. I usually put a small piece of paper over it so the flash is not over whelming.

I have a little experience in it. To have a really unique shot you can actually use a long exposure and use a flashlight to light paint some light onto the product. I also use two table lamps and in front of them I use a picture frame with 1 piece of paper in them.

Studio Lighting Box

That's an awesome studio lighting box for very cheap. Great people there as well. Make sure there is more than enough light for sure though. And a tripod or monopod to make sure you capture necessary details as well. Use the lowest aperture you have and the correct shutter speed to match it to make sure you get good lighted pictures. Then shoot them while on "p" to make sure they are correctly exposed. :)

Any opinions on lenses I should look at other than/instead of the 35 1.8G and 70-300 VR II? I don't plan on getting an FX body too soon and I don't shoot film at all (highly considering it though). There's no one thing in particular that I shoot - take a look at my Flickr/Fluidr for example. There's also other stuff not on that account that I can link as well.

Well if you get the 35 1.8 and the 70-300 plus you have the kit lens so you will be pretty much covered for any situation :) Only other lens that I would say to consider is the 50 1.8G. I have been using the 50 1.8d and really like it a lot :D

I was considering that as well, but I find that most of my shots with the kit lens are either around 30-40mm because that's just what worked best, or at 55mm because that's the furthest it can reach. I'm not sure how often I'd actually have a use for a 50. Anyway if I get the 35, I can always take a couple steps closer and get a similar shot to what the 50 would've done :P

Just got snow in my town. It's only a couple centimeters at most too.

Last year we got the first in early October and had several meters by the time the month ended. That snow also lasted to around April.

I'm still learning but I love photography sooo much. I just shoot whatever I feel like, here are some things I have done, don't harp on me but constructive critisism is welcome :)

I started out working on short films/visual effects, so this is just a new type of media to explore!

The horizon on this one sucks, but I feel like if that would have been better and I color corrected it a bit darker it would be more dramatic.Posted Image

Your off to a great start! What camera are you using? The only thing I can see with making the pictures a bit better is maybe work on improving the settings (if you are using a dslr) I can tell that it was a bright day when you took those pictures so using a higher shutter speed/ smaller aperture would help with minimizing sun glare and will improve the details on the player. Like I said your off to a great start!

The difference between the 50mm 1.8D and the 50mm 1.8G is that the G contains a focusing motor inside the lens. The d uses the internal focusing motor that is housed in the camera. Only some Nikon camera models have this focusing motor housed in the body (Also known as the screw drive) such as the d50, d90 and some others. Models such as the d40, d60, d3000, d3100, d5000, d5100 and some others cant use the AF- D lenses. When you put an AF- d lens on a model without the internal focusing motor the lens will only be able to focus manually.

Probably a better choice anyway since you wouldn't be able to use Auto focus with the D. Also I havent tried out the 35 1.8 but I hope to soon :D

How often do you go out and shoot? What lense do you use most often?

I have a Nikon D3100 w/ kit lens and a Nikkor 55-300. Not the highest quality, but it's fun :D. I've been teaching myself settings....I'm eager to try some long exposure shots on a full moon night.

Photography is getting to be an obsession for me haha. I get out and shoot when ever I can and sometimes I just go for a walk and take my camera with me. I bought the d50 with the 50mm 1.8d so that is what I have been using but just received the 18-55 kit lens and the 55-200 lens today in the mail so we will see soon which one I shoot the most with.

MZINcamo- Nice setup!

Nice! I love my d3100. I'm also looking forward to do long exposure shots but to do some light painting.

I also enjoy videography too, however Nikon's aren't really built for Video so I use it rarely.

I do want to try light painting. Do you just use a flashlight? I understand how to do it but not the light....I guess a sparkler would look pretty cool too.

I use anything I can. For this picture I used a led flashlight,

Alright so in the first one, there is a person holding it, right? How is he not shown?

I am swinging it around in a circle. Since I am moving quickly and the exposure is so long it doesn't capture me.

Amazing pictures Trum_15!
