There is a copy of the rules here, but they are still under development as we add game elements. I wanted to get them up so that people could ask questions and develop tactics. As we get closer I will post an official rules thread on TechPB with a full copy of the rules. However, as there will be many edits/additions in the next few weeks I don't want to have to edit multiple copies on forums, so the only one available will be the one at Viper Paintball to prevent confusion and discrepancies between the original and other posts. Thanks in advance for your patience, questions, comments, and input.

Haha same with my wife, although she is pumped to finally take a trip, and she is happy to see me so excited for something after I get back from this deployment.

I also had a question, why do pump players get 20 more fps then electros?

Cause I love my old schoolers and pump players.

Since the beginnings of any sort of paintball self-regulation, which we've been very successful at for over a quarter of a century, the acceptable, safe velocity limit established by the ASTM has been 300fps. As technology and rates-of-fire advanced common sense and insurance companies have pushed the commonly enforced limit down to 280 to ensure that fluctuations and normal variations are still likely to keep the shots below the mandated 300fps limit by providing a 20fps "cushion."

However, velocity spiking and wide velocity variations are much less of a factor with pumps, so we allow them to chrono at the actual ASTM limit of 300fps.

Make sense? :)

Pumps can shoot as fast, so we get harder shots!

Search "Dick Figures" on YouTube. It's from that series. HILARIOUS! "We're Cops!" is the best episode in my opinion, but they're all hilarious!

Question: Do paintball pistols (TPX, 8.1's, etc.) have the same FPS limit as a Semi Auto or a Pump?

Don't know where you've been looking, but they've been at a box of 100 for $40 for a long time.

I think it was somewhere on amazon, I hadn't really looked for them myself, up until now. Woo ANS Gear. Are they using the white FS Rounds or no? I thought I heard something about the FP FS rounds being a blue fill...or maybe the individual was a bluefill and the FP was white... I don't remember.

That's a lot. Does he buy a yearly supply or something? Even UV Halo only shot about half that at LL4, and he was running a dedicated FS setup for the whole event.

Viper, as you may remember last year I contacted you before LL4 about bringing the RC/XD remote control paint mine to CPX. As we discussed, it would basically fall under similar rules as a tank. Nerfs eliminate it and grenades temporarily disable it. And as long as it got a healthy spread, it will eliminate other tanks. After it's success last year, I'm in the process of building a much more refined version called the SCARAB that I'll be bringing to LL5. This vehicle will also incorporate a servo actuated flag to indicate when it's been eliminated or has already been detonated. Last year There was a bit of confusion particularly using it up against other tanks. So I figured I would ask if you wanted to add an addendum to the tank rules specifically governing the use of this sort of thing. A lightweight remotely operated class of tank, or "Tank destroyer" as you put it. In terms of safety, I'll be limiting the speed of the vehicle based on it's final wight to make sure that it won't cause any injury if it were to collide with a player. If you have any questions, Let me know. Also for more info on the project, check out this link to the SCARAB thread. Much more updates will be added in the coming months. Other questions I can think of... Would the operator require a demolition or heavy weapons card? Should it be inspected by the ultimate judge like the full size tanks prior to play and receive a tag for judge punches?

There are barrel socks available for them. Since the ASTM established the barrel plugs were unsafe about ten years ago and many, many fields do not permit them due to insurance requirements, it's really a good idea to have one for any marker you have.

If you check with Tippmann they have ones that will fit. They even fit over the milsim tips for their markers...and even Nerf launchers.

Viper- Maybe you'll cover this in the new rules for the 'destroyer' but just wanted to put out some ideas:
Leviathan has said that he would limit his SCARAB to 25 mph (from his thread, not sure if that's changed), but since it's essentially a tank, I think that it may be a good idea to slow it down further, to roughly 10-15 mph, still have an edge on the tanks, but make it slightly easier to hit than last year. Plus it would allow a little bit of reaction time if for some reason a player didn't see it and stepped out in front of it. Give them time to move, and reduce any potential injury. Also, I was in Grindhouse when he took it out once last year, crazy hard to see that little thing coming, flag will help, but its much harder to miss that than a tank. So slowing it down would help in all these regards.

I appreciate the outside input. I was hoping to hear some ideas other than my own. Given the rules from last year, I'm kind of worried that the SCARAB may actually be too effective. It's a small hard target to hit with a rocket. That being said, it's easy to hit with a paintball gun. So here's a little tip to you guys and the Grindhouse. I'm going to be controlling it via wireless video from a GoPro transmitted to a wrist monitor. If you can block my visibility say with paint spattered over the lens, the flag will go up because I can no longer safely control the vehicle (same rule as a tank). As for the speed, I'll have the ability to limit it to what ever is necessary, but I think the Ultimate Judge should have the final say in terms of safety when they preform their inspection. The one I brought out last year only had a top speed of around 16mph on that dirt road and I think the Grindhouse actually managed to take it out with a rocket at one point, or at least they told me they did. Also, the video transmitter will have an audio channel so I'll be able to hear from outside the vehicle, so in theory I should be able to hear the thud from being hit by a rocket, or a judge / tank escort can actually run up and yell at it to let me know it's been eliminated.

Okay, for the walking tank could I build something like a mech-like shell that I would have to throw on and haul around me that can very easily abide by the rules or would that count as non-approved personal armor?

No I'm afraid a tank needs to resemble a tank.

When I say "walking tank" it really means "human-powered."
