Gearbags are expensive and although they have a lot of good padding, not everyone can afford them. Personally, I just carry my stuff around in a gym bag.
So here's what I do to keep my gear safe from scratches.

I put a sock around my tank, I have a 48/3000 so it may not always be ideal for you 68/45'ers, but who knows. I also put a sock around my barrel, and for my gun since it's relatively small (Infamous timmy) i take my beanie, turn it inside out, and put the body of the gun in it to keep it safe from scratches.

Just my two cents, now i'm off to bring two airsofters into paintball

I assemble my gun before I leave the house (tank, hopper, barrel) and wear all of my stuff there so I don't forget anything. and my gun stays on my lap.

Hmm. When I go to play, I wear my base layer and leave my playing clothes in my gear bag, which is a duffel bag I got from a thrift store for free. I put in an article of clothing, then set whatever marker i'm taking on it, put more clothing on top of it, stick in a back-up marker, cover that with gloves and head wrap, then put my loaders, tanks and other things in the bag. Masks get stuck in an old t shirt and clipped to the bag with a carabiner.

For my gun, I got a messenger bag with a laptop section. Fits that, my pods and pack. Other soft goods go in a regular backpack with my tank and loader, then i just carry the goggles seperately

I use 3/4 foam pipe insulation with a soda cap hot glued into one end. I use the type with the adhesive on the edges, cut to approximate length, and seal sides together and glue in soda cap. Just keep it clean so dirt does not get inside and cause scratching. Everything else is layered with foam padding and towels in the gym bag, except for my mask which has microfiber dusting cloth from dollar store over the lens then wrapped in a hand towel, and finally put in an old motorcycle helmet bag.

I like the screen protector idea, used the concept but used clear packing tape over the gauges, then popped my Rufus Dawg GageKap protectors over it.

I just carry my gun. Then I hang it up on the wall when I get home.

Using a gun that's been hardly maintained and tossed from person to person more than a village whore is hardly a fair way to compare the marker.

For my marker, I use an old (rather large and have had it for years.) handgun hard case. The foam is a bit old and cut up, but cradles the marker well. Though, I do like EHz's laptop bag idea. To carry everything though, I picked up an old martial arts gear bag from Goodwill for $5.00. The center compartment is big enough for my gun case with room for soft gear stacked on top. The side pouches carry my tank and pods. It has a top flap with another pouch for all my tools and the front pouch holds my extra towels. My mask is wrapped in a clean hand towel, which will soon be a drawstring bag.

I wrap my alias in a t-shirt when it's in my bag.

Why did it take so long to make a Shocker with the spring stock?
