If they can be re-threaded to 'cocker, that's my ideal marker. I'm, basically, building the equivalent in Egomag form.

I haven't been this excited about a Tippmann product in years...........maybe decades.

Mad props to them.

$450 does seam a bit pricey but again, no other 'speedball' gun in this price range is dual electro/mechanical. I wonder how 'modular' (Ion-like) this marker will be.

I would guess that they stuck to A5 threads to help current Tippmann owners move up to this platform. That or to help the smaller barrel companies that currently support Tippmann.

I find it ironic in that Tippmann finally releases a serious speedball marker when speedball is on the decline and, the market is totally saturated with what seems to be record number of manufacturers and models.

I have to wonder how the aftermarket board companies (Virtue, APE, etc) will react to this marker.

This is awesome. While $450 does sound like a bit much, I can see this being able to at least take on the Etha, since the design is similar and the Crossover has the neato mech/electro duality to it. The Hall Effect trigger is kind of a turn-off, but I'm willing to look past that.

I'll probably pick this up for three reasons: I enjoy shooting mech, I've always wanted to go back to shooting a Tippmann marker (in memory of the late great Borg), and it isn't an Axe :P (I like shooting offbeat guns).

I wonder if they'll release a mech-only cheaper version like they did with the phenom; I'd opt to get that since nicer dedicated electros are available to me. Of course, I could always get a used Automag, but this is in a much more modern package.

If they release a single trigger frame I'll shit my pants.

yah at $450.... it's going to have very hard competition with the axe/etha/etek/fx/drone, and weighing 2.5 pounds and not having an on/off asa it won't likely fair well in that fight. Now if they could put it at $350 it could have a very high success rate, seeing as it would have 2 other true competitors- The etha and the aura(soon to be the valken gun, which will get it more popular and well distributed)

LOL! Yeah, Camouflage America quality at Hammerhead prices...

I can't blame Tippmann for keeping it A5 threaded. I mean, they own the thread so of course they're gonna use it, for better or worse. Hey, maybe this'll mean high-quality performance barrels with the A5 thread now...

Wow... Never actually thought I'd ever use that sentence... Felt weird...

Because they couldn't use a microswitch and maintain the electro/mech capabilities. With the HE sensor, the trigger doesn't have to touch anything to set off the gun, so then you can switch to mech and still hit the mechanical components that shoot the gun. If you tried that with a microswitch, you'd be mashing the trigger through the microswitch to hit the mech components.

^ Smart man @ andrewthewookie

I kinda like sensors personally, my starframed ego5 had them and I had that trigger set up to perfection.

Its like a lightweight emag... almost. I'm sure I'd much rather have another emag, but for $450 its hard to find a nice emag that would be comparable to this. Good move on tippmanns part, I'm not big on the looks of it, but its a step in the right direction.

Thanks andrew you always have some good insight! Personally I would rather have a microswitch than a mech option, but I'm sure tippmann was trying to cater to their fanboys with the mech option. It also gives it something that no other gun in midpriced range has! Although I am wondering what the trigger pull for the mech mode would feel like? I'd imagine it's a pretty long pull, but if they have some adjustment setscrews to tweak it could be fairly reasonable

why do you say that Mike? I feel that with the shear volume of guns tippmann has sold over the years causing most majors barrels deadlywinds, freak, dye Ul, stiff, CP, LAPCO, Techt to be available in a5/x7 threads. I don't feel that their would all of the sudden be a storage of these barrels to justify a price increase.

I'm assuming the grip is plastic as "Machine-milled upper body". Big turn off for me personally, but at that price point they have to pick and choose between things. At $450 though why wouldn't the ax be a better choice unless you really want to add a reg and bottom line for more $$$$.
