I can see lost internals being a problem. Renters trying to take the barrel off for cleaning and they accidentally unscrewing the wrong part of the barrel and spill the guts of the marker everywhere lol.

Its defiantly different, I honestly don't see them replacing the 98customs or the bt rentals.

I would think they'd at least put a set screw in the collar or something like that, to keep people from unscrewing that on the field.

lmfao renters cleaning their barrels. I've NEVER seen renters even wipe the old hits off their guns, let alone take the barrel off for cleaning. I don't think we'll be replacing our 98's any time soon though.

And why should you? You already have a gun that is cheap, has cheap replacement parts, easy to maintain, and durable. Why shell out more money if you don't have to?

cleaning 98s sucks so hard its ridiculous.

No I havent but I also dont see how hard it is.

You take out 6 screws, clean it, screw it back together. And replacing 20+ guns doesnt seem like it would be worth it.

takes about 10 minutes to take them apart and clean them. each one.

rental fleet of 20 guns = about 3 hours of cleaning

7 dollar/hour wage = 21 bucks

just to clean your whole rental fleet. which needs cleaning every day, and sometimes multiple times per day.

Now that is a matter of opinion...we only cleaned the breeches of the guns and the barrels. The hammer got lube, but they'd only get broken down when something broke. That's pretty much what the 98 was designed to do.

OK, my first impression, honestly, was, "Wow! Cool!" I honestly think this is a step in the right direction. It took me about 20 minutes for completely disassembly and reassembly of my BT-4. This is a great step in the rental market.

Tippmann is doing work. I mean, I'm happy they found a market they could pull a win on, and it's the rental department.

It may just have the internal gasline. I find this better than the Tippmann Crossover, but I like BT's design more. This is a great step for rentals. Now, fields can clean their fleets in a fraction of the time.

The video show how time consuming the 98's are. As for those goggles, how about the replaceable foam padding? Just from my experience with the events replacement foam, I think there is room for some innovation in that market. Do you think these goggles are easier for foam replacing?

I don't if u worded this wrong or something jarz. The ff-12 is macroline less/ internal gas line. The bt4 slice is steel macro. I thought you figured this though, and there might be misinterpretation on my end

These things look great for rentals. After cleaning 30 98s with only one other person I felt like finding something heavy enough to break a 98c. Bitch to clean, these look great.

I don't see why fields wouldn't replace their aging rental fleet with this. Most have had their fleet paid for 10 times over plus you can write off the depreciation of the markers. If it means less time spent on maintenance and a happier workforce why wouldn't you swap them out.

As for concerns with people taking them apart that is just nonsense. I have ref'd for over 4 years and have never seen a rental player try to take a marker apart to fix it, most of the time people have the safety on I get a call over from them saying their marker won't fire. As for cleaning barrel breaks you can still unscrew the barrel before taking the ring off that holds the top and bottom together. I actually think the design is rather ingenious; it's short and compact which will be easier to handle, it has a Milsim style which is appealing for woods ball players, and it has a gas through design for a nice clean look.

Good job Tippman!!!!

I may be wrong, but I get the feeling that they had the wrong picture up when showing the original model 98 in the pictures. Their 98 custom looked right, but I think they showed a picture of tippmann's 68 carbine or maybe pro carbine and called it a model 98? Did anyone else catch this, or am I just retard when it comes to the older tippmans?

I always thought the original 98 looked like this: Model 98
And the 98 custom looked like this: 98 Custom

see you are all going on about how hard it is to clean a tippmann... at my field it takes 5-10 mins tops, they literally use a garden hose and spray the markers down and spray out the breech and barrel then 3 or 4 refs wipe them down with dry cloths. why would you need to fully strip a tippmann let alone a rental?

When a field is renting out 100 plus rentals a day and has to clean them and make sure they are working its a bitch. Sure it doesnt happen often but when it does its a bitch, I have done it and I always loose pieces. This is a great design but seems costly for a field to replace all the rentals, good idea though for a new field opening up.

Look at it this way: buying a fleet of these is like investing in efficiency. As was previously stated, 98s take a full ten minutes to clean each. These take less time. Therefore what you lose on the initial purchase is eventually made up in the long term in man-hours saved. Plus with the hours saved, other aspects of your business can be seen to, potentially making more money.

No I havent but I also dont see how hard it is.

You take out 6 screws, clean it, screw it back together. And replacing 20+ guns doesnt seem like it would be worth it.

Renters cleaning their gear?? LOLLLL

snakesniper is right and if your just opening a field and dont alredy have rentals then this gun would be a great option

Where I worked, there were Piranha rentals. They were stupid easy to break down and clean... especially after you got good at it.
These new Tippmanns look even easier.

The fact that they don't even have macrolines make them even more appealing.
No need to worry about someone getting cut by a frayed line.

If I were in the market for another basic semi, I'd look into one of these for myself, lol.
I kinda like the Uzi look...
My namesake rocked an Uzi:
