Stock barrel is fine on the Axe. If you want to try something though, instead of choosing between a CF barrel and a Freak barrel, just get a Deadlywind Fibur. Best of both worlds; a CF barrel that takes Freak inserts, and REALLY quiet. The quietest barrel I've ever used in fact. I'm in love...

No, the DW uses regular Freak inserts, aluminium or stainless steel ones it doesn't matter. I have some Freak barrels and a Fibur and I use the same inserts in both. I happen to have a full Freak kit, but you can easily get by with just 1 or 2 if you're on a budget, especially if you tend to always use the same brand of paint. Decide if you want to over or underbore first, then see if you can get the bore size off of the paint you use, and get the Freak inserts that give you what you want. Or, check out some BST threads and find a good deal on a used Freak kit, they're everywhere. It's up to you man, do what you feel... B)

This is great advise, the Deadlywind Fibur with Freak inserts is the best of both and then some...Better than either originally listed. I use this barrel kit and love it. also have the Stock barrel, a CP 7 piece ket and a Stiffi MF...I almost always use the Deadlywind.
