See a dermatologist.

I show up at a field that I never been to before for some rec-play wearing cargo pants with a t-shirt....carrying a old mech Spyder and two pringle potato chip cans for pods shoved in the pants pockets. The stares are priceless and after the first game or so you get to see the grins from the ref and players who know....priceless.

Two ways

Time

Using some regenerative skin treatments (gels, cremes, oils ect ect) you can help scars fade away.

I had a pretty fucked up scar on my cheek from getting cut with a bike chain when I was younger, It has finally faded out. I should have used some skin cremes to help it fade better though. but alas I was a tool and didnt care enough.

I have scars from getting attacked by a jellyfish when I was like 6 or so, they're almost all faded now, 10 years later. They were pretty gnarly scars though.

Why would you get rid of it. Scars are awesome. I treasure all of my scars, they all have a story.

This. You think the Vikings worried about getting rid of their scars? Hell no. "You see this scar on my forehead? Some angry bitch in that town we sacked 3 months ago hit me with a chicken so hard that the feathers formed a knife blade. What say you now?"

I can tell so many stories from the scars I have. They're something to be proud of, as it gives you more character.

I will laugh as they overwhelm our enemies in a flurry of spotted banana hammocks.

Ehh.... Bike chain scars look fucked, so I was happy that it faded.

The whole "I judge a man by his scars" Blah yea we did that in the 70's and we got tattoo'd biker punks making more noise then is socially acceptable.

I'll stick with looking good.

Only certain scars like good, or in some cases like a badass mofo with the scar over his eye.

I have quite a few from my years of being invincible, and I think the only one that gets positive attention is the one on my chest where I got stabbed. Chicks dig that one, good story, and a good place they like to kiss afterwards.

I totally agree. But then, I don't have a scar I won't proudly show to someone or use as a story prop.

If you want to prevent scars in the first place you need to use an antibiotic ointment on it while it is fresh and make sure you keep it clean.
If its an old scar you have a few methods
1. there are over the counter scar creams (such as "scar zone") that claim to help minimize the appearance. I find they dont typically work.
2. there are scar creams you can get through a prescription from your dermatologist. These will work if is a shallow scar
3. If you have a deep scar you may need to get skin graphs to cover it up. Those aren't fun and from what I understood from my doctor (I could remember incorrectly) is that skin graphs only cover up the scar. Not sure what the pros/cons of that may be
4. there is a fairly new treatment using a laser you can get. I'm not at all sure what it entails or how it works, you would need to consult your doctor to get more information and/or get this done.

Vitamin E oil or lotion. It's good for scars, stretch marks, many things.

I've had the same thing you have, only took the shot closer than you did in a tournament. It looked like a vampire hickey for a few days and I got lots of looks, but it faded into a bad ass looking splatter scar. About 8 months afterwards it was only visible in direct light, and now it has to be under flourescent or extremlely bright light for it to be seen.
