i have always had a fear of the durability of a pump kit in the fact that if i were to take a core sample hit my gun to the ground weird i was afriad that the pump kit would bend or snap leaving it use less, what is your take on this?

let me know if you find any good porn on it, always got room on the thumbdrive :-)

I think the most useless thing in paintball is... Cookybiscuit. :P

I could see this happening. But you would really have to give the pump handle a direct and strong hit I think.

You'd have to hit it sideways pretty hard. And by pretty hard, I mean really hard.

If it got to that point I think you'd be investing in a new marker let alone just a new pump kit.

RIP BORG, you will be dearly missed in the paintball world for all you have done for us.

I would think your barrel would bend or break long before the pump kit, as you have waaaayyyy more leverage.

I think a hit that hard you would more then likely have to buy an new gun and then wait for a broken wrist or arm to heal!!!

Protect the pump arm with spikes. Problem solved. Unless the pump arm is aluminum (I think the KP and some Karni's used aluminum arms) they typically are stainless steel. The arm may deflect with a side impact, but it will hit the body before permanently bending. I've played with cockers for years and never have damaged pump arms or pneumatic parts due to falling, tripping or any other odd accident.

Have you ever seen a barrel break from core sampling? I haven't. And if it were to bend or break, so what? You damaged your gun. Fix it. Just like any other damage to your gun, not like guns get damaged a lot.

Honestly, how do people think of this (crap)?

The pump arm wouldn't break. It would have to snap the stabilizing rod(s) going into the pump arm before the cocking rod snaps.

The old AKP's did this, due to the fact that they had delrin pump arms.
That was later fixed with a metal pump arm.
Shouldn't break unless you do it forcefully.

On the Azodin Kaos Pump markers, the pump arm connecting the pump itself to the bolt sled was made of Delrin plastic.
Rigorous pumping broke the arm off of the sled and/or pulled the pump off.

Seriously though, I don't think you're gonna worry about the arm snapping anytime soon.

Right, but the OP is asking about core sampling breaking the pump kit, which I just can't see happening. Even with a delrin pump rod.

i have only gone so much as to bend an arm. and i didn't do it. the previous owner of my little brothers 2k5 BM sniper somehow bent the pump arm idk how maybe when it was getting shortened but it sticks out a good bit from the body now, haven't been able to find a new one that is the right length. mainly because i haven't looked.

Pump rods generally bend when there is some kind of physical stoppage of the backblock's backward travel. Either the pin/lug hits the slot in the body, or the mainspring binds, or something else happens. That places stress on the rod as the pump/ram is still trying to go backwards but the backblock is stopped. This is why the limiter for backward movement should always be the ram or the pump.
