So I'm looking into getting a new barrel back for my gun, just for the color, but obviously I want it to perform as well as it can too. So my question is, obviously if you have a freak kit or a bunch of different bored backs, you guys say underboring by .003 or so is best. But if you can only have ONE bore size, should I still go for a .680 or something, or with only one bore, does that put me in overbore territory to be safe from breaks?

Who am I, what am I, and what do I do? I'm a Christian, I'm a Gator, and I'm a drummer.

I would go with a .689 the paint I use fit perfectly down the barrel and when I just drop a ball down the barrel sometimes it gets stuck. So I am thinking about over boring to a .693

.685, large enough to fit larger paint, but small enough to fit the smaller paint (in my area at least.)

I show up at a field that I never been to before for some rec-play wearing cargo pants with a t-shirt....carrying a old mech Spyder and two pringle potato chip cans for pods shoved in the pants pockets. The stares are priceless and after the first game or so you get to see the grins from the ref and players who know....priceless.

I like 0.689. It seems to be the best for me. We have hot and cold climate.

but don't those midsize bores give you consistency issues, because you end up being closer to a match with the paint?

for the new jersey area, i have been using the .679 insert for most of the time. and the paint size would match the .679 or the .682 insert. sometimes smaller. i really need to get some more inserts.

i have used the paints from valken, dxs, empire, and gi sportz.

do you have an idea what size the paints are in your area?

If you are trying to find a specific colored back, you are not likely to find a size that is small enough to under bore properly, so I would go with an overbore somewhere between .689-.692.

This is not really a good way to think of things because you generally don't have only one bore for everything (you usually have a stock size bore or can get one for nearly free), and it's not super expensive to get another.

What bore size came with the gun? If it's your typical stock overbore size then I'd say get something that's under bore. Look for something that's at least .005 in difference from the stock barrel to give you a couple options when you're at the field. Don't get something that's almost the same. What's the point.

I usually suggest a set of two. 684/5 and 680/678 range. Something about .005 apart.

Did your gun come with a back? What size?

Apex 2 0.689 Bore to mess around with, then i would just use stock barrels.

Contrary to everyone else that's posted, I'm just going to say it really depends on what size paint you usually see in your area. I really don't think anyone can tell you a single bore without knowing that.

bwahhahaha
The ultimate truth in paintball is that the interaction between the gun and the player is far and away the largest factor in accuracy, consistency, and reliability.

And yes, Gordon is the sexiest manifestation of "to the front."

when a BINB CP one piece is 30 bucks, and used barrels can be had for even less, i think there simply isnt a good excuse to have only one barrel.

I have an unmarked Dye UL, which from what I've learned is a .688 (right?).

I want a blue back and an orange front. CP does not give me that option. Only barrel systems that can do that are the Ultralite (from ANS because of their exclusive colors), Freak (also ANS), or Planet Eclipse (can get from other places, but a 2 back system would cost as much as a full freak). Yes, I know I can spend much less and get the same or better performance.

both lurker barrels, probly a 689 if you want an overbore and a 681 if you want an underbore

let me know if you find any good porn on it, always got room on the thumbdrive :-)

It's the truth as it was 7 years ago. They are heavier and uglier than most but they shoot well and clean through breaks.

If efficiency is not a concern I'd go with a .691 or larger since a ridiculous overbore doesn't hurt accuracy, but if you go with a mid size bore and happen to get some paint that just starts to grab on the barrel it will make things worse.

I try to use a .678 whenever possible, even though my buddies with their overbores usually have a tighter spread (if .675 barrels actually existed I bet there would be no difference).
