In tribute to 9/11, my Crossfit gym is doing the "343" workout

The firefighters who work out at this place, are doing it with 20lb vests and firefighter masks on... fucking STRONG

good god the fact they have rules avout vomitting and passing out scares me but seems like a great program.

1) everything is scaleable
2) form is extremely important
3) Go at your own pace

There isn't anything going on at Crossfit, that hasn't been going on in either a gym or an aerobics class for the past 50 years. Crossfit just created an atmosphere that's fun, and competitive (if you care about that sort of thing), and encouraging.

From someone who used to work in a "tame" gym in comparison to crossfit...vomit and passing out isn't unusual, especially if you do PT classes. I was calling the custodians at least once during each of my shifts and I think I had to call the ambulance on someone passing out ever other week.

Never fucking ever again will I do this workout.

This is the mainsite workout that my gym did.

Seven rounds for time of:

7 Handstand push-ups

135 pound Thruster, 7 reps

7 Knees to elbows

245 pound Deadlift, 7 reps

7 Burpees

7 Kettlebell swings, 2 pood

7 Pull-ups







My time was 46:34



Never, ever again.



Btw Mike. Starting at USF next fall. Does your gym have a student rate? How far away is it from the campus?

Yes it does, cuts the price down from $150 to $120

Crossfit BNI is about 20 minutes from the Tampa Campus. And Jenn & I usually are at the 4pm class

Let me know when you get into town, it'd be a pleasure for me to show you around the campus, and show you around the city. Someone was nice enough to do this for me when I first started at USF, so I'd be happy to return the favor!
