This is kind of a random question, but does anyone know what skyball is? The reason I'm asking is because I was browsing through ncpa's website and they mentioned something about skyball, and I haven't been able to find out anything about it. So does anyone happen to know what it is?

Go on YouTube and look up skyball 1998, It's pretty cool to see all the old mags, angels, and cockers. On a different note, you can see some vintage joy division action

Skyball? Damn, now there's a name I haven't heard used in about 10 years. Basically it was a large scale tournament like World Cup, held in the Skydome in Toronto. I think 2001 or 2002 was the last year they did it. But here's some cool pics from back when pulling a trigger was part of the talent involved in being good at paintball.

I just looked into it more. It went into 2004 with Skyball 7. Skyball 8 was actually planned and teams had already paid their entrance fees, however in early 2005 the arena was bought out of bankruptcy by Rogers Communication. With the purchase came remodeling which would lessen the amount of space and cut it down to only 4 playable fields. XO Industries (The then host) decided to cancel it and refund the entered teams their money. That was the last attempt at it.

^^ Correct.

It was a great tournament and it was very cool to play inside the Skydome.

I don't know if paintball will ever get back to that state of popularity.

If the name wasn't copyrighted, then maybe someone could try to bring it back, and only allow people with mechs to play.

I was half hoping it would be some badass mid-skydive paintball match, but I guess tourneys in the Skydome are pretty cool too.

When I first heard it I was kind of thinking it was a tournament style that was played in like a giant ass blimp or something in the air :P which would be sweet haha.

That first video was hilarious. Refs complaining about them being too honest? I wonder if a ref nowadays would ever say that. I also wonder if Mike has ever played Skyball...It would be cool if they could bring something like that back.
