I was thinking about this and wouldn't pumps be the most efficient as they don't need air to recock just to shoot.

They aren't that efficient.

My trilogy when a mech was WAY more efficient than it is as a pump now.

To put into perspective a T2 is more or less as efficent as a g6r

Well some pumps, like the AKP, still put out the air that would recock it, which also is was produces the farting. However, a properly tuned pump should(in theory) be more efficient. But also keep in mind that the amount of air needed to cycle most poppet guns is extremely low, so you won't notice much of a difference.

It's tuned poorly then.

Autotrigger, and fast shooting causes lower effeciency. That's why "effeciency tests" aren't testing maximum effeciency, but are testing "constant" effeciency. By shooting ramping, your effeciency goes down. If you shoot a bit, wait, shoot a bit, wait, you will get higher effeciency.

Let me rephrase that, my S6 isn't bad on air, just nowhere near the level of a G6R

Isn't efficency a bit of a moot point on pumps, since the volume of paint being shot is a bit lower?

yes they can be the most efficient when sprung and tunned for efficiency, however pumps shoot so little paint that efficiency doesn't matter. So instead pumps are sprung and tuned to have the lightest, smoothest pump stroke possible.

T2s are a bit unique, they have near magical efficiency lol

i just like to have a light pump stroke and a quiet as hell shot. that's what i look for in a pump. one of my 2k+'s that we got tuned literally has 0 decibels when shot, you only hear the ball hitting, but that was before we re shaped the cup seal and i haven't looked at it lately.

I dunno...Playing stock class I try for the most shots I can get off a 12g.
I don't consider it a "moot point" at all.

It also matters in open class, because you can opt for say a 13ci tank and it can limit your maximum loadout.

I get about 40 from my Ghost on a warm day.

I show up at a field that I never been to before for some rec-play wearing cargo pants with a t-shirt....carrying a old mech Spyder and two pringle potato chip cans for pods shoved in the pants pockets. The stares are priceless and after the first game or so you get to see the grins from the ref and players who know....priceless.

i don't have a decibel meter, but in the dark i had 3 people on either side of the gun and shot it and they only knew i had shot when they heard the ball hit a metal sign.

And why would shooting faster decrease your efficiency? Does it change the amount of air per shot?

Apart from all the stories in this thread, the issue here is not that it doesn't use any air to re-cock, but the efficiency of the valve. Any decently designed or utilized valve that uses air to cycle will be more efficient than a less efficient valve that gets pumped.
