DONE DONE DONE DONE!!! SEE PAGE 2 FOR PICTURES!!! :D
I think this might be the first ever 2009 Spyder Electra spimmy! :) I've never seen one before.
So I'm thinking more and more about this and I think I'm gonna do it this time. I owned a 2k2 timmy one time before and I loved the shot quality and how it felt. Though I hated how heavy it was and how big it felt. So I got rid of it. BIG MISTAKE, I put a noid, a board, hoses, a ram, a ram cap, a front block and a new bolt into that baby.... Should have kept it. Posted Image

I love making things and during a two day power outage that ended today (fuck you sandy) I started brainstorming. I had an extra cocker LPR lying around and I got to thinking:
+Nerf gun autococker ( og my god how I wish..)
+Spimmy

Now the ONLY reason I decided on the spimmy was because I figured that any nerf gun would have too long of a cocking length and would probably tear itself to pieces moving that fast....because that would be fucking cool and you know it.

My plan is to build a spimmy without buying a timmy front block, because I already have an autococker LPR and I want to make this super cheap.

First off I obviously need to find a spyder to mod. I currently own an '09 spyder pilot. Unfortunately Kingman made the '09 pilot shorter and smaller. So the slot on a timmy ram sleeve no longer lines up and it won't fit into the bottom tube anymore. It also lacks a front block as Kingman took the elegant route and went with a front plug and a vertical Adapter instead of a front block. Though this isn't really THAT much of an issue So my dreams of a 2009 pilot spimmy were crushed. I've always liked how the old spyder Pilot ACS guns looked, especially with that barrel thats milled to hell. (looks awesome IMO) I'm aiming to find one of those with the original barrel, but if you have any suggestion for one that looks better My ears are open to suggestions.

Then I need all the other parts...
+Trigger frame
+noid
+ram
+ram sleeve
+poppit and cup seal
+hoses and barbs
+timmy bolt (I believe this has to be a 2k2 bolt to fit but I'd have to check again)
+a board (planning to modify a spyder board for this just shave off a bit of $) just gonna get a cheap frenzy 113 and get it flashed by blast to 127

I'm gonna set myself a goal of $100 for all the parts. Yes I'm aware this is ambitious. Though I think I can pull it off. Honestly the hardest thing to find is going to be a spyder body that I like lol.

So I realized that buying a 2k2 timmy is cheaper than buying all the parts, so I'm currently on a hunt for the cheapest functioning 2k2 ever made :) If anyone is looking for a body I'm going to be selling that once this is all said and done.

I'm kind of excited about this :) and I plan to document it all here:)
leave your thoughts!

I got a timmy to canabalize
and its a mess
the LPR spring and poppet spring are rusted out and he refunded me 15 for it :/ not exactly ok but whatever, minor setback

check this shit out...its not ok

it did come with a WAS equalizer board though so that's a plus, I might get it reflashed and just ditch the LCD

I also got time to drill out the top of the spyder.
I figured that by getting a top cocking spyder it would make my life easier, but I forgot that that only applies to the spyders with the quick strip bolt :/ Whatever it's not going to be as clean as I wanted but it will still work and the bolt moves freely in the slot.

It's really messy, but bear in mind, I'm 17 and this is probably the biggest project I've ever done

Posted Image

notice how much longer the slot has to be made
Posted Image

after you drill out the top you also have to put a hole in the lower tube for the front barb on the ram. It's pretty straight forward, you just drill a hole in the ram so it lines up with the barb. You can just eyeball it, it doesn't have to be perfect.

lookin good :)

I also did an Ego feedneck mod to this. It's really easy, you just take a copper pipe cutter, cut the feedneck in half, wrap it with electrical tape twice and clamp the feedneck on.
Just make sure you get all the burrs off the feedneck after you cut it.

that's all for now!!
Stay tuned! I have the springs coming in the mail soon

so now it's all a waiting game...
have miscellaneous parts in the mail
paintball kingdom has an unusually large quantity of obscure timmy parts for sale.. They also sell some of the best hard spyder/timmy detents.
list of things due to arrive
-valve spring
-lpr spring
-delrin lpr piston (not needed but cool anyway)
-super hard detents
-super ram bumper
-three 2k2 cup seals

I FUCKING FORGOT TO GET O RINGS >:(
god damn everything

but it's all kosher
because i have another package with more goodies
from crankwalk on IOG (he has stuff for sale and runs a store in the bst)
-6 super high flow barbs (because go big or go home)
-3 feet of super high flow hose
-a stainless steel screw kit (NO MORE RUST :D )
-ram o rings and ram sleeve o rings

I was mad about the orings because i had to pay a ton extra for them, but it's all good
Will update once everything arrives

Got more parts in

Posted Image
Rebuilt the lpr, so now it has a shiny new spring and delrin piston that wont scratch the inside.
it doesnt look as bad as it is, I also soaked it in coke for a while, and that got rid of a good chunk of the rust, but not enough
Posted Image
Posted Image
Also got the new poppet spring so I was able to put the front block on.

It's starting to really come together now. I'm just waiting on one last package from crankwalk and I'll have everything I will need to complete this thing :)

the old cup seat was REALLY worn out
Posted Image

Also on a related note I'm making something REALLY good out of all these spyder parts and the timmy body I have, like much better than a spimmy I'l post pics when it's done

I'm not happy with how it looks so far
I'm considering a different spyder body, like the 09 Electra. It's already milled for eyes, accepts timmy detents, has a top cocking slot already, delrin bolt and nice milling. I'd need a cocker lpr but that's not a major issue as I already have one kicking around lol.

I'm going to be putting the internals in an electra soon, which is pre-drilled for eyes. So I didn't see any benefit from putting eyes in this one as I'm just going to be using a gun that is ready for them.
Plus I don't have the correct tap for the eye cover screws lol

DONE DONE DONE DONE DONE!!! :DDDDD

Using a universal t board and some orange scenario dreams eyes :) yeah they did still make these board and SD is still selling them! I'm still playing with the board settings to make it shoot just right. It has some issues with speed and consistency of the stream when the eyes are on, but shoots an nice consistent 15 bps with ease with eyes off.

The grip is an absolute rats nest of wires, but it works fine. it was even worse when I first installed everything, then i added the red tape to make it neater.

Nothing holds the parts in the grip in place, they're packed in place and held by friction. I painted the spyder membrane pad black and filled the button holes with JB weld. Then I mounted the membrane pad over where the old buttons used to poke through.

It shoots miles smoother than a spyder, but not a smooth as an Intimidator because of the reduced weight.

Total cost was $300. owch. I'm attempting to make some of that up by selling leftover parts.

As you can see since there is no front block I was unable to use a timmy LPR, so I attached an ANS jackhammer to the other port on the asa. I set it at 60 psi and haven't touched it since. it works just as well as a timmy LPR.

I'm also using the stock spyder bolt. I swapped the spyder bolt pin for the timmy bolt pin. The stock bolt is black delrin with detent grooves, so it's a great bolt and serves it's purpose well. I might go for a Techt Hush bolt in the future but there is no real need to.

Any other questions about how I made this work post here or PM me and I'll be happy to help! :)

I always thought the trigger on the 09 Electra was the worst trigger I've ever used though. But awesome job on the Spimmy. How hard/easy was it to set up the T-board?

It's not very good lol I agree. Way to much side to side play, and nobody makes a replacement currently. The t board was pretty easy to set up. Just set the parameters as they would be on the normal marker. It has LOTS of features, if I ever need a new board in the future I'm totally going for the UTB again. You do have to play with it though for things like eye delay.
I was actually able to bring the dwell down 5ms from 12 to 7 because the bolt is so much lighter than the old one and it cycles much faster.

What's cool is the valve chamber is huge in comparison to the old one so I can use lower pressure too. All these things obviously affect board settings.
If you're putting it in a stock gun though its easy to set up.

That's not realy true the idea behind the spimmy is to get rid of the seer

Iv built a few if these and yours looks dam good I like the fact you used the stock frame kinda makes it look like a sleeper you should make some sort of sleeve cover so you don't brake your barb cus they are a bugger to get out
