Just curious as to the real difference between say the extcy and my black hearted ion I fart around with some times. Are the parts interchangeable? What are the benefits?

The benefits of an ion are you can put aftermarket bodies on them and can often be found for cheaper, however many aftermarket bodies have been discontinued.

The benefits of an eXTCy is they come ready to tear it up on the field straight from the box with any loader and tank, also the eXTCy has different styled eyes and has eye covers.

If you have some dremeling and sanding skills you can dremel up some custom bodies on either of them just making sure the body doesn't expose anything important such as the eyes.

Both are great guns

i have a classic ion (no bolt out back) and for me the biggest differences are cosmetic, and very few internaly. its shoots about the same without all of the problems with it. the trigger is WAY better, the reg isnt as big and bulky, and the ASA is leaps and bounds better than the old ION one.

It is kind of an ion with all the essential upgrades on it out of the box (good feedneck, bolt out back, desent asa, nice reg, blackheart board and such). The bolt engine is the same, so bolt upgrades are interchangable. I don't think the boards and triggers are iterchangable but I could be wrong. Bodies are not interchangable.

Hmm. Well I must say I'm still an ion fan. I'm not sold on it.

If you already have an ion, there isn't much need to get one. It's a step sideways in performance, not really an upgrade.
