I saw a empire axe (non pro edition) at my local pro shop this weekend and really liked. The only thing I would change is the barrel to something else and probably to the redline when I have enough money and I was just curious what would you guys change on the axe and why? Thanks for the replies it would help me decide what I would upgrade next.

If it is the stock board, definitely get a shockwave board. And a new barrel. That's it. Stock board isn't water resistant, and water gets into that front grip easy and the boards get ruined in the rain. Plus the shockwave board has a couple useful features the stock doesn't. Prefer a quality 14" barrel over the stock

check to see if it has a shockwave stock, if not Empire will hook you up for frees. and a eigenbolt. If you want try the boss bolt and maybe another barrel.

I'd get rid of the weird banana-shaped foregrip; but that's just me.
Axes shoot just fine stock, but if you must upgrade; look at Lurker's stuff.

Using a gun that's been hardly maintained and tossed from person to person more than a village whore is hardly a fair way to compare the marker.

All id get is a DW, because you can use it on another gun..

As far as the Axe goes there are only 3 items I would change, not because it's a MUST but because I'd want to :)

BOSS V2 Bolt: Allows you to run at a super low PSI and Dwell, shoots liquid smooth

14" Super Freak: Uses inserts to match bore to paint and will make the axe a bit quieter than the stock 12" barrel.

CP Low Rise Feed-neck: Why; because I like my hopper close to my marker, just sayin' ;)

Keep ballin bro, you can't go wrong with the Axe. It's an awesome marker with tons of potential right out of the box, remember it all depends on the person using it as to how well it performs :P

I wouldn't be worried about upgrades before you even buy it. The Axe is an amazing shooting marker, doesn't really need much.

Change the amount of paint going in and out of it, that really tends to help out on the field.

I bought my first upgrade after 3 cases and it helped me out tremendously. (The grip extender)

Go ahead and play with it! Everyone here will have something different to change because everyone handels their marker and plays in a different way. Try it out for yourself to see what it needs. It may not need anything at all...And the stock barrel may be just fine, you won't really need a new one unless you plan on underboreing. If you're diehard set on a barrel though, CP makes amazing barrels at a great price, if you got the cash though DYE barrles are pretty awesome too.

I have a 2011 axe. 14" deadly winds fibur barrel. Shockwave board is on its way. That's a must. Taking the plate off to change modes is a pain. Next for me is a boss bolt or eigenbolt.

Grip extenders don't increase the performance of a gun, it betters the ergonomics for some people. They can also make them more awkward for some people. I, for instance, am used to having the DW foregrip on my Automag (which is about half the size of the Mini's) so an extended foregrip would be even more awkward for me and thus negatively affect my ability to play.

Also, looks should play a part in one's gun. If I thought my gun was ugly as hell, I'd be less inclined to play with it. I'd rather sacrifice a bit of ergonomics or performance to have a better looking gun. Hell, that's why I still use my Automag over any modern electro.

One of the denotations of performance is: the execution or accomplishment of work, acts, feats, etc. (dictionary.com)
It increases the execution of me shooting people out faster by being able to hold the marker a certain way.

I do agree that it is not for everyone.

I agree with you but if there was a piece of poo that got 20 pods a fill on a 50/4500 and had a dead quiet and smooth shot, I would place with it even though it would leave nasty residue on my hands and on the paintballs.

I got the Lurker Bolt, looking at getting a 14inch DeathStix kit for mine, currently have the Redz Barrel Kit for it. I'd look at either a Nano Clamping Feedneck (good luck finding one) or a grip extender after you get the new bolt.

I don't get the hype behind a "no-rise" or "no pro" feednecks. They sound ducking stupid when they have less room to secure your hopper leading to hopper damage. But hey it's your hopper and marker not mine!

I also don't get why you guys complain about the empire ones getting discontinued when ccm makes perfectly fine ones as well

What I'm trying to say is that it does nothing to the performance of the gun. The Axe will still shoot the same way.
I'm saying that it could possibly improve the performance of the player, but at the same time could negatively affect his/her performance.
It's more of a preference thing and could seem like an upgrade for some and a downgrade for others. You can't guarantee an increase in performance with an item meant to improve on ergonomics as it varies from person to person.

It does nothing for the gun itself and the degree of usefulness from person to person varies too much for me to consider it a legitimate performance-based upgrade, so I consider it an ergonomics-based upgrade.
