So I don't know if any of you guys have heard or not, but NPPL decided not to hold an event in Chicago this year. Normally NPPL chicago and Living Legends are held at the same and place at CPX sports. I was wondering how other people felt about this. I'm pretty bummed about it honestly.

In my opinion, I feel like it will take away from the whole Living Legends experience. With no NPPL there we might not see alot of the vendors there, and we won't get to watch good tournament paintball or any of that. I also planned on making the trip there with some buddies that play in the NPPL, and because there is no event taking place they may not even go...

Just wanted to spread the word and see how others felt about it. I know for me, having both events taking place at the same time and place made it much more worth the trip, and more worthwhile overall.

I know Legends will be fun either way, I was just bummed to hear the news. It will also affect the amount of people there too, I'd imagine. Post your thoughts!

Maybe PSP instead? I would think that would make for an absolutely insane weekend.

PSP hosts Chicago in June, so very unlikely. I'm pretty sure it will just be Living Legends there, which isn't a bad thing by any means. I mean it is still Living Legends after all, so I'm sure they have something in store for us either way.

I don't think it'll have too much effect on either venue

The NPPL is basically three airball fields and dozen or so vendors, while I'd love to see them there, I don't think it'll affect attendance or anything. It was nice to do a little shopping and sight seeing, but no worries either way

Also remember, didn't CPX start their OWN tournament series not too long ago? Hmmm

They started the CPL and have an event scheduled the weekend after legends. My money is still on PSP.

I am actually a little bummed out by this, hopefully that some of the Pro's that are usually at Living Legends because of NPPL, might find some time to come down and play Legends! At least this will allow the whole area to focus on the Living Legends Venue though!

Question however, how will this affect discount pricing at nearby hotels? Hmmmm....

The hotel I stayed at for LL4, can't think of the name right now, actually had a better rate online then the NPPL/CPX discount. It almost seemed like it wasn't a discount, but just their normal rate.

I don't care for my sake, three of my guys are crashing with me and we are in for 80 bucks a night for four nights, which for a two bed suite is a steal.

I am pretty sure you COULD crash in your vehicle, if you really wanted to, but at that point you might as well grab a tent and sleep on the camp grounds and hang with the party. It'd get your car mighty smelly if you slept there both Friday and Saturday night.

There is a camp ground there?

Instead of question by question I'll make a list

When can I pre-reg?
Cost?
Price for staying at the camp ground?
Paint options? ( anything lower than $75)
What kind of paint?
How many players usually show up?
And most importantly is it worth it for me to drive from Gloucester, VA to go to the event?

There is a camp ground there? - We have a good amount of open space for people to camp. Just no RV Hook ups or electricity. All Free.
When can I pre-reg? - Soon. Hopefully within the next week or so.
Cost? - Will be on the website when live hopefully tomorrow.
Price for staying at the camp ground? - FREE!!!
Paint options? ( anything lower than $75) Only 1 option. I have done this so everyone has the same experience. I have been to other events that had really cheap paint and I had a horrible time. I want to make sure that everyone has a great time!
What kind of paint? RPS Custom Evil or Marb.
How many players usually show up? Last year about 1550.
And most importantly is it worth it for me to drive from Gloucester, VA to go to the event? I will leave everyone else to answer that since I am biased :)

I'm super excited. I can't wait for this. Hopefully I have the money. That is a pretty penny for this event. I haven't gone to an event this big sounds like a really fun time. Do you guys ever see any pro players there? I know mike shows up. Do you ever see Thomas Taylor, rich Telford or anyone like that?

Both of them were there last year. We had the NPPL going on at the same time, but not for 2013. Regardless, you will still see plenty of pro players. I know the Ironmen are coming along with Infamous. Some Houston heat guys... and I am sure there will be plenty more.

And... have you ever played paintball at a $6,000,000 facility? Running water with bathrooms! Trust me, it is worth it and you will be blown away. If you don't have a good time, find me and I will make sure you have a good time!

actually kinda happy about this. can focus on LL now.
The ultimate truth in paintball is that the interaction between the gun and the player is far and away the largest factor in accuracy, consistency, and reliability.

I can't think of anything you'll need, unless you wanna pick up a cheap pump for the Pump/Pistol games on Friday Night.

Sean, had a thought, is it possible for the players to perhaps get a case of both the RPS Premium and a case of Marbs, if we paid for two cases? Or is it one or the other?

Yes, there will be plenty of vendors. I can guarantee at this time Tippmann, DYE, and Empire will have trailers along with HK Army being set up. There will be plenty more and I will have more info as they sign up. I think we will have the same amount or more overall and they will all be centrally located.

Hours of gameplay go from I believe noon to like 5 on Saturday, and 8 to 2 on Sunday. There is also pump/pistol games going on during Friday night, and Open Play on Wasteland during Friday morning.

You can walk the field pretty much anytime during friday afternoon/evening, from my understanding, but there is a lot so if yo uwant to cover it all, you're gonna wanna move quick lol.

This is assuming we are all on the same team. I'm the guy that always goes for the "good guys" we had a mobster event and I was on the Feds both events. Our zombie game I was on the survivors team instead of the zombies. So whatever the "good guy" team is is what I'll be pre registering for

With last year's theme and this year's continuation of it (I think anyway), there was no "Good Guys/Bad Guys". There was the Free People of the Horde Republic, which were a band of farmers and other surivivalists who formed deep in the jungle to band together to survive and help one another. The other side was the New Empires Imperial Nation, based off the society of Ancient Rome, they were a group who formed together to survive as well, but soon became militant and started "converting" all other survivors to their cause, and crushed any rebellion that threatened them.

As said in another thread, what side you go to really depends on you the player.

The side I chose last year with my team (The Horde), was because we had a relationship with some teams from Wisconsin that were playing under Necro from SAS-WI, who was a squad leader for the Horde. My guys and I chose to run together as a team, and we kind of collaborated with another team and they joined our ranks, forming the base of our team now.

It's entirely up to you what side you want to play for, but a lot of teams play for certain sides to play alongside their friends or even some times against their friends. All in all, we are all there to have a good time :).

And UVHalo, not all tourney guys don't know scenario, look at Nicky Cuba.

...And UVHalo, not all tourney guys don't know scenario, look at Nicky Cuba.

Yeah, I think I came off like a tool in that earlier post. I apologize.

I wasn't meaning to criticize all of the Tourney folks, just the ones who came onto the field totally unfamiliar with the scenario, and in some cases, scenario/big game play at all, and not even caring enough to ask about the rules or event. Some problems I've observed:

Bringing and using their Tourney paint
Not knowing or caring about the role of the hospital (i.e. going onto the field where it was convenient for them).

Here's a positive experience I had: at one point on Sunday, while traversing the field towards the front, a tourney player (fresh from the tournament) joined up with me and started to ask me questions like: "How do they know who wins?", "Are there prizes for winning?" and a couple other questions I can't remember now. I was glad to give him the rundown and I hope that he had a good time and found it worth trying again.
